Cask at JDW, Altrincham. Dark cola brown shade with blotchy patches of head. Faint coffee aroma. Taste is earthy roast, coffee, bonfire toffee and a hint of liquorice. Good stuff, for me it hits a lot of the right porter notes.

Tasted this at the Bow Bar, Edinburgh in January 2008. Cask, handpump dispense. Dull ruby black in colour with a tight creamy buff head. Slight roast grain note in the short pleasant aroma. Thick creamy mouthfeel and good lacing. Dark malts give a treacle toffee base with blackcurrant fruit. Short bitter notes in the dry hoppy, almost nutty aftertaste. Finish is malty with a dry liquorice note. An excellent new porter.
