Tasted this at the Bow Bar, Edinburgh in January 2008. Cask, handpump dispense. Dull ruby black in colour with a tight creamy buff head. Slight roast grain note in the short pleasant aroma. Thick creamy mouthfeel and good lacing. Dark malts give a treacle toffee base with blackcurrant fruit. Short bitter notes in the dry hoppy, almost nutty aftertaste. Finish is malty with a dry liquorice note. An excellent new porter.

Cask at the Wellington Arms, Bedford. Translucent dark chocolate brown, with an innocent halo of beige head. Chocolatey, nutty, malty aroma: basic but effective. A mild malty bittersweet, with more bitter chocolate notes coming out after the initial sip. The mouthfeel is a bit thin. This is a really good porter, perfect for an autumn evening.

Cask at Bow bar. Roasted chocolate nose, hint of coffee, taste is very sweet, almost a sourness there, chocolatey, bitter.

Playhouse Spoons, Colchester. Cask. Clear deep red - amber beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth and dry with modest carbonation. Mild smooth dark malts. Whispers of smoke and dark chocolate. Tangy dark fruits, well buried. Light dry finish. Fine.

Cask at the moon under water Watford. Ruby red coloured pour with a stodgy light tan head. Aroma is subdued earthy dirt raisin and light choc. Flavour comprises of dark choc, berry fruit, tart apple , raisin and dried fruit. Good condition. Good mild.

Cask Victoria station w-spoon : this just lacked a spark or the balls to be full bodied ,thinish palate . Some bitter/sweet roast ,chocolate too . But a bit watery .

The Felix Holt, Nuneaton. Stout looks with cream head and ruby trim. Hot butter, Sugar Puff nose. Buttered rust flavour with burnt almond hints. The butter is distracting and diminishes the porter character.

Cask Lloyds Carlisle. Soft brown sugar and light licquorice aroma. Tasty berries and blackcurrant cough medicine flavours, with a tangy, bittersweet finish. At 4.2% this is a full flavoured, well made porter.

Aroma of toffee caramel. soft roasted malts, chocolate
Taste of soft roasted malts, sweet dark toffee, caramel, soft chocolate, sweet dark malts, slightly buttery
Palate - Medium body, smooth texture. Sweet caramel palate. Finish as main flavour, little dry
Overall - Quite nice porter, rather sweet

Cask@the avion, aldridge. Very dark brown beer with small head and some patchy lacing. Aroma of coffee and roasted malts. Taste is roasted malts, coffee, a hint of chocolate, caramel and a little licorice. Quite good.
