Hand pulled at the Anchor, Birmingham. Wasn’t sure of the style here - it could have been a Scottish Ale or a Mild, but the brewer says it’s a Porter, in which case it’s a little thin. Ragged choc edge to this, some musky, thin, sharp points, but a mainly smooth and tasty beer. Refreshing, good stuff.

Tasted this at the Bow Bar, Edinburgh in January 2008. Cask, handpump dispense. Dull ruby black in colour with a tight creamy buff head. Slight roast grain note in the short pleasant aroma. Thick creamy mouthfeel and good lacing. Dark malts give a treacle toffee base with blackcurrant fruit. Short bitter notes in the dry hoppy, almost nutty aftertaste. Finish is malty with a dry liquorice note. An excellent new porter.

Gravity cask at Wandsworth Beer Festival. Pours brown with very little head. Roasted, dark malt aroma. Lightly sweet flavor, with faint mocha and roasty bitterness. Light to medium in body with soft carbonation. Fairly well balanced to finish, with more mild, dark malt character.

Cask at Pig’s Ear beer fest. Chocolatey nose with just a hint of sour fruit, flavour is sweet malt and creamy at first, then almost instantly dry and roast mocha comes through, leaving a dry bitter finish. Light-bodied yet tgoothsome and complex, a good light porter.

Cask - - Gallows Bird, Espoo
Very dark red, small off-white head. Pleasant rich roasty aroma. However, it is a bit pooey too, but it is a bit tired, on its 4th day, I think. Pleasant soft roasty body, but the sweetness of the malt and the age make it feel a bit flat. This probably has huge potential fresh.

Cask@Pigs Ear Fest. A lightly spicey porter, with some light sweetness and dark fruit characters. There is also some roasted malt and chocolate malt. Not so bad.

Gravity at the Pig’s Ear Beer festival 4/12/207. Near black with a slight tan head. Bitter chocolate and roasted malt aroma. Flavour started with some sweet dark fruit and liquorice before a smokey tobacco finish. Very enjoyable.
