Handpulled at the Babington Arms 1st Golden Ales Festival (JDW) Derby. Fairly plain and malty, fruit well tucked into the end of the palate, competent but a little unexciting.

Cask. Golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is fruity hoppy and slightly yeasty. Flavour is leather, some yeast, earth and fruity hoppyness. Barnyardish aftertaste. Slightly watery too.

fonefan (29292) - VestJylland, DENMARK - OCT 21, 2008
Cask (handpump) @ Great British Beer Festival, GBBF 2008, Earls Court, London, England SW5.
Clear light to medium yellow orange color with a average, fizzy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, caramel notes, spicy - peppery some light notes, light to moderate hoppy. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. (070808)

berkshirejohn (3648) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - MAY 9, 2013
Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Pale amber with a ring of white head and good lacing; floral aroma; thin with a sweet floral body and a light lemony bitterness; then a biscuity finish. Rather bland and ordinary.

kwik-lime (866) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 9, 2012
A bit of hop bitterness, hint of citrus, nice balance, refreshing - good session beer, generic but totally fine example of the style.

Cask (HBF2009)
Apple, butter, wet sheep. Dull UK bitter. Not stored very well, to warm, and almost certainly not given a chance to show its strengths.

Benjii (3049) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - APR 9, 2012
On cask at Cloisters. Pours a light golden colour with a fair white head. Aroma of lemon, caramel and yeast. Similar flavours with a little green apple to finish. Mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel.

Nuffield (3348) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - JUL 27, 2003
This brewery was established in October of 2002, and I've found a series of internet references to the Golden Spring--some as a 3.8% bitter and some as a Golden Spring Premium at 4.2%. Those were all from festivals, but the pump-clip on this one said Golden Spring Bitter, 4.0% Perhaps they have finally figured out what they were going to do when they started distributing it more regularly, but please pass along any additional information you may find on this beer and brewery. Creamy, clinging head on a standard amber body. Some malt, some fruitiness...but the flavor is still a bit wooden. Some hop aroma...but the aroma is still a bit muddy. Someinterest...but still a bit average. But wait...over time, more flavor comes out, more caramel, more grape, and more tea. There is potential here, though still below the mean. (on tap, Hobgoblin, Oxford)
