2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 chriso (7065) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 4, 2011
Cask (handpump) at the Market Porter on 1 March 2011. Mid brown colour. Not much aroma. Dryish, with some fruity malt - berry fruit up front - and a hint of bitterness. I was going to describe this as a quite soft, middle-of-the-road, fruity bitter but I see the commercial description calls it a mild, which I find a little surprising. Still middle-of-the-road whatever it is.

Pours ruby brown with small tanned head leaving lacing on the glass. Aroma is malty and bread with notes of sweet caramel. Flavor is slightly flat, acidy, berries, malts and hopps. Palate feel is acidy sour. Finishes first a bit fruity turning into shortlived bitter hoppy aftertaste.

Cask-conditioned at the brewery tap, the Lamb, Frome 6/12/08. Chestnut coloured with a moderate, off-white head. Big fruit cake aroma of fruit and nuts. Flavour was sweet with plenty of caramel, more fruit and some hops lingering in the background, before a short dry finish. Good.
