Dark ale almost stout like, smells like my dads compost pile (not a bad thing) I would like to be eating salty pork scar things with it.

Cask. A chest-nut brown beer with a lazing dark brown head. The aroma has notes of chocolate and caramel as well as a bit of roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of chocolate and roasted malt, leading to a dry roasted finish.

Cask @ Raven. Ruby tint with scant head. Butter cookie with toffee chips. Sweet. Slick palate. Lots of raisin in the flavors. Oatmeal-raisin cookie. Buttery toffee crisp. Too much butter but is ok in general.

Cask handpull, The Raven, Bath. Workboot and margarine aroma. Mahogany with red tints under a scoop of beige. Butter everywhere, with a clutch of berries and old socks to balance it. Like the previous rater I couldn’t get past the (presumably unintentional) tartish and buttery notes here. Unroasty, buttery, quite poor. Locals lapping it up like Gwince..

Cask conditioned at The Raven, Bath. Chestnut with cream head. Quite a fruity dark beer but eally quite tartish in character with a yeasty background. Malty and caramel in the close, but couldn’t overcome the slight off notes.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Mungo (2472) - Southampton, Hampshire, ENGLAND - APR 29, 2008
Cask conditioned @ Raven, Bath. Malty toffeish best bitter. Pleasantly dry with mild hop flavours. Spoiled slightly by a little intrusive yeast (which seemed to be a problem with some of the other beers in the Raven on my visit.
