Cask (Kitty’s, Helsinki) Dark brown, thick but light head. Sweet , malty, and a little bit milky aroma. Mostly malty taste but with lactic milk and nutty trends. Slight mushroom and blue-cheese taste too. Not a long finish, but leaves the mouth with a nice beery feeling.

tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - OCT 6, 2011
Tasted this in the Last Post, Paisley (JDW) in January 2011. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear copper red in colour with a thin off white head. Slightly earthy aroma with a tart hop presence. Thin mouthfeel and poor lacing. Pale malts give a robust fruity note of elderberries and brambles. Tartness continues into the aftertaste with metallic notes present. Finish is malty with a walnut dryness. Cracking ESB and well recommended.

Cask-conditioned at the Annexe, Bristol 31/05/2011. Medium brown in colour with a decent, off-white head. Sweet, caramel and red berry aroma, with a hint of earthiness. Flavour was also dominated by sweetness, with a decent bitter finish. A bit syrupy.

Cask at Pilgrims Progress (JDW), Bedford, in ’Spoons Beer Festival ’11, though after the close. Amber with a small white head. Rich buttery malt aroma. Sweet oily malt taste with a slight bitter finish. I liked this, though it was served too warm.

Leighton (4094) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 1, 2011
Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW. Clearish auburn pour with a filmy head. Toffee in the nose, cake and doughy malts. Light to medium sweet, bit of frosting, toffee, figs, some leafy and herbal bitterness. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Relatively dry on the finish, more sweet cake and toffee, light hops, hints of ripe fruit. Pretty decent.

Cask @ The Counting House JDW. Sour grassy caramel vegetable aroma. Medium brown colour with a good head. Caramel malt flavour. A bit rough.

DruncanVeasey (5145) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - MAR 28, 2011
Accidental pint, The Gatekeeper (JDW), Cardiff. Chestnut with a white halo. Purple Allsorts aroma. Pleasant soapiness, liquorice confectionery, butter biscuit, slight dampness. Rounded....but what the hell has it got to do with Siberia? Was expecting something filthy pitch black and roasted to hell. Never mind.

Cask, William Wygston, Wigston. Amber, copper with a cream foam. Aromas are bready yeast with raisins and chocolate. Plummy with light citrus and herbal notes. Flavours are toffee malts with bready yeast and metal. Ripe Autumn fruit with berries and a woody, dry finish. Some tart citrus with cream. Decent. And then all the way home all I could taste was mushroom. Not so good now.

Cask Conditioned handpump Cordwainer Northampton. A ruby coloured beer with a whitish head. Plenty of raspberry fruitiness in the nose which is a pleasant sweetness. Nice and fruity in the mouth. Again raspberry but there’s a floral touch as well and a bit of biscuit. Pretty nice.

Cask. Ambery golden colour, mediumsized slightly off-white head. Aroma is caramelly and bready malty along with some mild nutty and wooden notes. Flvour is bering quite much the same in a nice balance. Some slight fruityness as well in the flavour.

Cask handpull The Edgar Wallace, London. Chestnut red colour, lasting thin beige head. A slightly syrupy strong bitter. Good stuff though. Ar really good ESB. Fruity malts onto some green peppery hops. It’s a very good English ESB.
