Bottle 750ml. Pours brown with low beige head. Some lacing. Aroma is of bourbon, alcohol, malt, fruits. Taste is of oak, bourbon, sourness, fruits, booze. Probably other stuff, but LOTS of bourbon. Slight sourness. Palate: Medium body. Balance not too shabby. Overall: Alcohol not well hidden. Pretty good stuff.

Bottle (750 ml). Unlabeled. From AlexFields, thanks! Dark hazy reddish brown with a small to medium beige head, good retention, and some lacing. Aroma is of bourbon, lots of fruits, oak, vanilla, light alcohol and light acetic presence. Taste is moderately sweet with bourbon, red fruits, oak, vanilla, boozy notes, light acetic presence and light caramel. Medium to full body. Moderate carbonation. Slightly acetic and dry mouthfeel. Very good Oud Bruin! Really complex and well balanced despite some boozy presence. Nice barrel treatment. I loved it.

Bottle shared at Dan’s Birthday Tasting (Lyons, IL). Pours a deep copper brown hue, healthy glow is quite appealing, some richer copper glow on the edges. Loose bubbly tannish head atop dies down, laces ok and sticks around ok. Aromas are wet oak, richer berry pulp and raspberry/blackberry melange. A bit seedy, some oak, gentle to growing sourness. Wet oak, a touch of oxidation, and gentle vanilla. Faint spirit. Initial is medium bodied, bigger red and berry fruit influence. Firm seedy berry, raspberry and black cherries. Some oak, vanilla, decent lactic twang. A touch of warmth, malt body and firmer berry presence. More lactic, sour berry elements as we round the corner. Some toast, carmelization, and red berry fruit. Some dried raisin, cherries. Some mellow oak. Very well balanced, rich red and berry fruit nose. Decent to medium sour elements in the body, with still an ode to funk and gentle biscuity and bready, gentle toasty malts. Touches of vanilla. Just really nicely done here. A bit darker, more subtle but a more invigorating red and berry element really give some life. Tasty.

Bottle. Colour...ruddy amber with a thick white head. Nose...fruity with a hint towards young orchard fruits, as well as yeast and orange pith. Palate...sweet but not cloying with orchard fruits, caramel and taffy apples, then a wave of tart semi sour cherries. There’s oak here as well as a somewhat grapey flavour that’s reminiscent of a Viognier and then the Bourbon arrives. The Bourbon is not dominant but adds a distinct flavour to the experience.

Poured into a snifter. Big thanks to khumbard for this. The cork on this was horrible and broke at two points while I fought to get it out. 3.25 A: Dark brown color. Just under one finger of frothy/fizzy beige head that falls quickly and leaves no lacing. 4.25 S: I didn’t realize this was a sour until right now. Not what I was expecting, but I’m not unhappy about it since it smells great. Subtle acetic acid with more emphasis on a tangy lactic acid component. Brown sugar, caramel, quince, and chocolate. Notes of plum and purple grape. Funk is fruity and earthy, but not too powerful. The barrel is used perfectly for this beer. The bourbon complements lightly without interfering with the base beer’s aromas. Light leather and earthiness with vanilla and oak notes. 4.25 T: The taste is a lot more "wild" than the nose suggests. This isn’t to say this is overly sour because it isn’t, but I was expecting mild sourness and I got moderate. Lots of tanginess in here in the form of fruity raisin, not quite ripe plum, quince, crab apple, and white grape. Brown sugar, caramel, chocolate, and maybe a hint of molasses. Again the bourbon is subtly complementary. Light earth and leather, but stronger vanilla and oak. 4.25 M: Lighter medium to medium body. Good moderate carbonation with a pleasant spritzy creaminess. Supremely smooth. Great here. 4.5 D: This is a great beer without really any problems. Serving type: bottle 05-02-2013 00:28:21

From a bottle at Dark Lord Day in Munster, ID. Pours light-red with a medium off white head. Light lacing. Nose of raspberry with acidic and oak aroma. Medium plus body. Flavor is a nice tart berry, and the finish is sour. Very good tasting.

Another funky idea that actually tastes pretty good. Good medium sourness, brown sugar notes.

Botled shared at Matt’s pad. Clear brown pour with an off white head. Sour stone fruit aromas. Sour stone fruits, caramel malt, and oak notes. The bourbon notes have really mellowed. Good body and mouthfeel. A solid sour ale from Block 15.

Buddy brought this one from Portland to Atlanta for sister’s wedding. Poured a murky brown with a minor amount of offwhite head. Nose. was sweet vanilla, bourbon, tannic acid, dark fruits, all over the place in a good way. Taste was much the same. So much going on it was hard to get a good read on whether this was a great beer or just a muddled mixture. Suppose it landed more towards the former, but not a complete homerun. Taste was initially sweet bourbon followed by the sour oud bruin barrel punch, vinous, dark fruits, vanilla, bourbon, oak, cherry. Finishes tart for sure. Enjoyed this one.
