COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Flanders inspired red ale matured in oak brandy barrels. Open fermented with our special blend of brewer’s yeast, two brettanomyces, and acid producing bacteria. A blend of five barrels matured 15 & 25 months in our wild cellar. Wonderfully complex malt body, aroma, and flavor with a balanced sour finish.

Pours a deep, hazed red-tinted orange with a small off-white head. Aroma of tart berries, lactic acid, vanilla, apple vinegar, oak, and grapes. Flavor of oak, lemon, berries, vanilla, lactic acid, apple, and grape.

Big sample at What the Funk!? Pour is murky brown in appearance with a small tan head and good lacing. Big cheese, smelly, funky, waxy, slightly acidic, tannin, sour fruity, and caramelly aroma. Taste is very acidic, woody, dark fruits, caramel, toffee, red wine vinegar, raspberries with a big sour finish. Light body with medium carbonation. Pretty good, but a little too acidic for my liking. I do welcome more Block 15 though.

UPDATED: JUL 4, 2013 Tap @ The BeerMongers during Sour Showcase... Poured deep reddish with a thin beige head. Unfortunately this had notes of diacetyl on both the Nose and flavor. More in the aroma though. Some acidity, wood, and dark fruits, black cherries with a buttered grain note. Drying towards the finish with woody brandy-like booze along with some tartness too. I felt that this beer was struggling to be either sour or barrel forward, and nothing shined with either of those. Had high hopes for this one but a little disappointed with the diacetyl I was picking up.

Bottle with friends shared by a fellow beer head from Oregon. Notes of tart cherries, funk, oak, brandy and tart sugars, killer beer overall. Thanks for sharing

On tap at Baileys Taproom. Colour...garnet-amber with no head. Nose...acetic with macerated grapes, plum butter and cassis. Just smelling this ale made my salivary glands start gleeking! Palate...light CO2, massively sour to start then the sourness steps slightly to the side and allows the fruit to come forth. There’s more grape here (pinot noir) as well as pit fruits with a lean towards Royal Ann cherry, nectarines and Italian prunes. The brandy rounds out the experience as does a generalized oaky flavour on the finish. Block 15 can do no wrong!

A browny-red pour. In the mouth it is tart and full of rich, woody brandy flavour. Enlightened by cherry and raspberry notes. Rich and tangy all the way. Intensely deep and luxurious. Wonderful.

Draft, Block 15, Corvallis. Pours a dark reddish brown, off-white head. Tartness and white fruit in the aroma, body is medium and lively, finish is tart without being overly so, warming well-hidden. Really excellent!
