3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A: Dark cloudy brown that opens with a faint plop and which doesn’t give much in the way of head. Lacing.
N: Raisins, fig, cocoa, brandy, cherry, cinnamon and nutmeg. Bread and molasses. Toffee and caramel.
T: Slightly tart, big sweetness. Not much bitterness to speak of.
M: Sticky, medium body, alcohol burns a bit. Carb is there, but it’s a bit flat.
O: A buttery figgy beer that has a sourness to it which I could go without. It’s not infected sour, but it’s there, and I just can’t enjoy it as much as I would like.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, 75cl corked. It pours a reddish dark brown body, unclear, and topped by a dense, minimal sized beige head. The aroma is lightly sourish, with dried fruits, some nutmeg and cinnamon and a generic spicyness. Caramel maltyness too. Chocolate. A bit thin on the palate, still feeling sort of full-bodied. Pleasant carbonation, dry. A light tartyness, with caramel, dried fruits, spices and some chocolate. Lasting finish. Not really sure about this one. Itt’s nice, no doubt, but I can’t decide if I like it or love it. 130928
