2011 vintage Dark reddidsh copper color with a light tan head. Nose is cinnamon, dark fruits, nuts, bread, caramel and slight amounts of brandy. Slightly muted at first but grew as it warmed. Taste is a little more bread l with slight spices, cinnamon, dark fruits and splashes of brandy. Well balanced but quite soft. Medium feel, light carbonation. Not as coating as thought it could or should be for the style. Still nice though

Bottle... Pours lightly hazed and brown with copper highlights and a small, creamy, mushroom-colored head. Fantastic retention. The aroma is moderately roasty and lightly chocolaty with leathery tannins and skins. Full-bodied and super silky with gentle carbonation. The flavor is roasty, toasty and just plain nice. I’m not picking up figs specifically, but dark fruits? Yes… and very nice caramel and vinous elements. Finishes roasty and caramelized with light bitterness. Bottle courtesy of newcigarz!

Bottle at De Garde. Pours a dark mahogany color with a medium white head. A big sour spicy nose. The flavor is a bit odd, sour fruit, spicy core with cinnamon, sour cherry. The overall mix of spicy and sour is interesting with a fruity core. Good. Just odd.

Bottle generously shared by Tony. Brown pour with a kaki head. Sour aromas. Sour with loads of caramel malts and big woody notes. Fig lowlights. Good body and mouthfeel. Interesting.

500 ml 2014 bottle. Aroma has nice, light malt notes of toffee, chocolate and toasted bread with light roast notes. Moderate dark fruit notes with lots of figs with lighter raisin, cherry and berry notes. Light to medium light brandy notes. Pours a dark brown with a reddish hue and a large, thick, light mocha head that slowly recedes to a thin film that is thicker on the edges. Faint lacing and long legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with light toasted bread and medium toffee and dark caramel. Faint chocolate and roast. Moderate fruit notes with lots of fig and lighter raisin, prune and cherry. Finishes with a sweet brandy note. Medium light alcohol in the finish and medium bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and silky with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a really nice beer that has an interesting sweetness without being cloying and thick. Lots of fruit and brandy notes with a nice malt backbone.

Bottle. A: Dark cloudy brown that opens with a faint plop and which doesn’t give much in the way of head. Lacing. N: Raisins, fig, cocoa, brandy, cherry, cinnamon and nutmeg. Bread and molasses. Toffee and caramel. T: Slightly tart, big sweetness. Not much bitterness to speak of. M: Sticky, medium body, alcohol burns a bit. Carb is there, but it’s a bit flat. O: A buttery figgy beer that has a sourness to it which I could go without. It’s not infected sour, but it’s there, and I just can’t enjoy it as much as I would like.
