The past three summers, The Cherry Country has delivered fresh picked montmorency cherries. These tart red beauties were packed into first and second run kentucky bourbon barrels and then filled with Enchanted, our open fermented oud bruin. This fall, we blended select barrels from the program, harmoniously marrying young and mature fruit notes with oak, gentle bourbon, and tart brown ale.

375mL bottle from the brewery. Served in a snifter. A: Brackish brown color with a very, very thin reddish-white lacing. Clings to the glass for a bit before gliding down. N: Deep whiffs of tart cherries, some sweetness of oak and vanilla from the bourbon, and a slight acetic element. However, this one leans more towards the former and less towards the latter. T: Sour oaked beer. The cherries lend the tartness to the beer, and then there’s a depth of oak, bourbon, vanilla, and honey. Some cranberry and some acetone, some dark berries in the very back. M: Medium mouthfeel which contains more than its fair share of carbonation. No alcohol presence and a very pleasing level of sourness. O: A balanced candy of a beer. A complementing mixture of sweet and sour. I would take this over the Dissident or Earthmonk every day of the week. Recommended.

Burnt copper with some ruby tones and one finger of tan head. Great nose, dense cherries and wood, dutch cocoa, acidic and some cherry pits. Woody in the flavor with cherry and fruit. Nice balanced acidity with a slight vanilla note. Moderate carbonation and acidity.

Bottle. Colour...cloudy amber brown with no head. Nose...fruity with "a nutty Edam cheese"--Miles from "Sideways". Palate...tart, tangy, sappy and brisk with loads of cherry and yeasty fruits. The tanginess lingers and carries through the tart finish.

Draft pour at Brouwers Cafe as part of their sour fest. Pours a dark reddish brown color with a short fizz head. Sour dark fruit and cherry aroma. Flavor is cherry, oak, raisin, and a little cinnamon. Has its hints of sweetness, but finishes on a big tart note. Very nice kriek. Awesome beer.

Bottle thanks to Matt. Pours a cloudy brown with small frothy white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is funk, oak, cherry skin. Thin mouthfeel with strong cherry skin, oak, funk, light sourness and dry finish.

Generously shared by one of the fine Portland RB folks at a tasting - Pours reddish brown with an off-white head. The aroma has dark cherries, richness, wild bugginess, vinegar and pithiness. It has a medium crisp body that is a bit rich and has semi-sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with rich cherries, chocolate and oaky barrel traits. The finish has the tartness and fruity aspect still, but there is a bit of malt there balancing. Great beer.

Light ruby brown with an off-white head. Aroma is cherry, marzipan, dates, brown sugar, sour candy, hint of bourbon. Full bodied, slightly sticky mouthfeel, sweet and thick on the palate with a balancing fruity sourness. Taste is black cherries, dates, bourbon, fruitcake, Black Forest cake, sour candy.

Poured from tap to glass. Hazy reddish brown hue with tan head that lingered in a moderate ring. Aroma is pie cherries and buttered popcorn. Mouthfeel is decent with a moderate light body but low carbonation. Taste is dry with a buttery slickness throughout the finish and lingers on the palate. Overall this is a buttered popcorn diacetyl bomb. Not impressed.

Pours a thick hazy salmon tinted brown with little head. Sweet toasted caramel malt aroma with strong notes of cherry pie. Flavor is very dry and bitter. Cherry is a bit subtle. Tartness overpowers with woody lemon peel notes.
