On tap at the brewpub. Dark brown pour with a mocha head, dark roasted malt aromas, smooth with dark roasts malt notes. Some bitterness, that tangy coffee bitterness. Average body and mouthfeel.

On draught at Block 15. Pitch black with dark tan head. Aroma is cocoa nibs, coffee, and campfire. Taste is milk chocolate, smoke, coffee, and roasty malts. Finishes with a smoked meat and roasted chocolate aftertaste.

On tap. Pours a pure black color with a medium tan head. The aroma is light dusty oats and chocolate. The flavor is medium sweetness, a light roasted malt, smooth oats, figs, milky chocolates. Very nice.

Tap at the brewpub. Jet black pour with an inch of tan foam. Smells of chocolate, oats, caramel, molasses. Tastes pretty much the same, perhaps a little more prominent oat flavor. Smooth and creamy, slides across the tongue.

Tap @ Block 15... Poured pitch, jet black with a khaki head. Full, thick, foamy, dry palate. Aroma had coffee and nutty tones. Full of roast, oat creaminess and sweetness, coffee, licorice, bitter-sweet molasses, and a dark malt & sugar finish.

Had this on tap at the Spring Beer and Wine Festival in Portland, OR (4/3/10). Colour... black with a thin tan head. Nose... roasted nuts, ash and crushed cocoa nibs. Palate... lightly sweet, roasty, day old coffee, cocoa and a long dry finish.

UPDATED: FEB 15, 2010 Sample at the brewpub. Pours glossy black with a medium thick tan head that diminishes slowly. Sticky rings of lacing on the glass. Difficult to detect aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Medium, smooth body with flavors of coffee, dark malt and bittersweet chocolate. The finish is roasty with a short coffee aftertaste. Just average overall.

On tap at Eugene City Brewing (Rogue). Pours dark black with brown and red tones. Aroma is faint of roast, sweet malts, oats, and somewhere in there is a tart cherry. Flavors are much of the same with a lot of sweet malts in the mix. Smooth, semi-watery, but a good drinking sweet stout. Nice burnt roat lingers on the palate after sips!
