Bottle. Dark brown pour with an off white head. Coco puff aromas. A little thin in the body but with very tasty dark roasted malts, smooth bourbon, coco, mild chocolate, vanilla, and oak notes. Good mouthfeel and balance...

There were 4 bourbon-barrel-aged beers on tap as specials for "bourbon month" at Block 15. Many of them are stunning, but this took the cake. Deep primordial mud brown-black with a creamy ring of head that is full brown (very dark even for a stout). Oils are apparent on the surface. The bourbon and vanilla notes are pungent and serve as counterpoint to a balanced, semi-sweet imperial stout. Chocolate and sweet grain come to mind; hops are not in the forefront here. Like a milkshake and dangerous. I want another glass!!! Palate is smooth, silky.

A- dark cocoa and Carmel. Hints of spice from the barrel Appearance- black as night, not much head as most is lost to the aging process Taste- bitter sweet chocolate and Carmel notes with a hint of vanilla and licorice. Light bitterness from the roast grains and cocoa. The warming alcohol from the 11% and barrel aging balance the bitter from the cocoa nicely. Very very good. Palate- comforting and satisfying with a slight lingering bitterness an warming flavors. Overall I love this beer and as it grows in popularity it is harder to come by. Rating #1200 on tap at Prohibition Pig. Jet black pour with nice brown head. Aroma is nice vanilla, oak, roast, and chocolate, Really great creamy mouthfeel with tiny bubbles. Tasty rich and smooth BA imp stout.

On tap in Vermont, tons of bourbon flavors and aroma, very nice all arous stellar barrel aging

Sweet bourbon and chocolate aroma. Sweet roasted malt up front, chocolate throughout, fades to fantastic bourbon flavor and slight boozy aftertaste. The bourbon flavor does an excellent job of masking the higher alcohol content. Heavy bodied and delicious.

Clear dark brown colour with a small, fizzy, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate - cacao, alcohol - bourbon, light coffee. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, chocolate, dark roasted, alcohol, sweet malt. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120920]

Bottle at yespr. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a sweetish roasted malty bourbon chocolate aroma. Sweetish roasted malty woody bourbon and vanilla chocolate flavor. Has a sweetish malty woody bourbon vanilla finish.

Botella. Pitch black colour, small brown head. Sweeet dark fruity prune roasty malty chocolate aroma. Good thick mouthfeel. Sweet roasty malty dark fruity flavour with chocolate and woody bourbon. Lovely!

Bottle at yespr. Pitch black coloured with a small beige head. Sweet and roasted aroma of caramel, dried fruits and dark chocolate with notes of oak and vanilla. Sweet and roasted flavour of licorice, oak and vanilla with notes of coffee. Roasted finish.
