Bottle shared on the RBWG bus tour (LaZoom!). Dark chocolate brown pour. Pretty nice n’ sweet nose of heavy dark chocolate, lactose sugars, and a touch of bourbon. Mmm! That’s good. There’s chocolate and vanilla sweetness that is perfectly balanced with bourbon wood notes. Well balanced and delicious.

Pouring @bus. Black appearance with a brown head. Really nice dark chocolate, vanilla, sweet bourbon aroma. Smooth mouth feel. Super nice toffee, caramel, roasty, whiskey flavor. Grate pete

1L btl. Thanks James Birnie! Episode IV (2012). Nose is vanilla, oak, alcohol, liquorice. Black, slight tan head, quickly evaporated, but heavy legs left. Taste is vanilla and oak, slight boozy warmth, doesn’t burn, great balance. Palate is silky, slightly oily but not unpleasant. Whoa! So complex! Give this to a wine snob or whiskey brat and they’d be hooked. This is the most wood and vanilla I’ve ever had with a beer, after 2 yrs I think the cocoa died a bit but its there in the finish. Top 5 I’ve had maybe #2

25.4 ounce bottle from Timfoolery at Christmas, a lot of char and chocolate. Bourbon plays well with the beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from IP trade with Aaron. Aroma and flavor is bourbon-soaked, coffee-soaked white cake. Not really sweet, toasty, but remarkably not smoky. Excellent beer.

One Year Old Bottle at Home - One of my favorite Imperial Stouts! Huge bourbon, vanilla, chocolate nose. Bitter Coffee and deep cocoa flavors are washed down in viscous bitter sweet toffee like finish. A delicious barrel aged stout!

2012 bottle. So smooth, blends exceptionally well with these choc chip cookies. Chocolatey, roasty, silky, highly refined. Zero bite, so good.

On the train from Hereford to Inverness, bottle from thanks to DW my very own wingman, 18/10/13. Pitch black with a dirty tan head that thins to a covering. Nose is big dark roast, bourbon soaked oak, boozey, dark toffee, chocolate, tar. Taste comprises chocolate, good bourbon dose but well tempered, brown sugars, molasses, dark toffee fudge. Full bodied, fine carbonation, mellow and smooth on the palate. Good balance and depth - Impy from the top draw!
