Commercial Description: Our Belgian Dark Strong Ale is the first beer of its kind we've ever brewed. Belgian ales are revered around the world for their unique flavors. Unlike most craft-brewed American ales that are highly hopped, many Blegian style ales are sweeter.
In this case, our flavor benefits from a generous dose of dark candy sugar imported from Belgium. The sugar boosts the alcohol content (10.2% abv), and residual unfermented sugar adds to the body and the sweetness of the beer. Another hallmark of some Belgian style is the use of multiple yeast strains for added flavor and complexity. Floyd has used three different yeast strains in fermentation on this one. The end result is a smooth-drinking, deep brown ale with deliciously complex flavors that last and last.
Pours dark brown with a thin head. Little lacing. Light aroma of maple syrup, chocolate, and dark malt. Moderate mouth feel with spicy flavors of chocolate, caramel, a bit of coffee, and cinnamon.
