mgoy (263), Oak Brook, Illinois, USA Apr 18, 2008 I had the pleasure of sampling Bloomington Pale ale at BBC in Bloomington. I sampled it from a hand pump in two different variations. One was made with cascade hops, the other with nugget hops. This rating is for the traditional brew with cascade hops.
Murky yellow in color with a very pronounced head. The cascade version was very smooth and citrusy in taste and a bit more mild than I was expecting. The taste was very smooth and drinkable without a lot of flavor.
argo0 (6145), Washington DC, USA Jan 23, 2005 Clear amber body with off-white head. Aroma is mild, medium sweet, grapefruit. Taste is medium sweet, some grapefruit, light biscuit. Fairly mild, but definitely some bitterness. Watery light-medium body. atpayne (615), Zionsville, Indiana, USA Aug 21, 2004 Sampled at the Indiana Brewers Guild Brew Fest, 7/31/2004. It was tagged as their Quarrymen Pale. The color was a dark gold, leaning into the brownish range. Aroma was hoppy but not overpowering. Floral hops and a bit of a ballancing sweet malt. Finished medium. ToadMan (552), Alexandria, Virginia, USA Aug 9, 2004 On tap at Nicks. Nice dark brown color with a gorgeous white frothy head. Lightly sweet, moderatly hoppy/floral aroma. Falovor is a decent hoppieness balanced by a nice mild sweet malt character. Lightly floral and a little carmel chewieness. burgerlicious (308), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA Jun 28, 2004 This was called Quarryman’s Pale Ale by the brewer that served it to me. My glass had the typical pale look to it. The carbonation was tiny and the flavor not too exciting. But for a pale ale, it wasn’t too bad.
