This beer has come along way since its inception a few years back. It is now *good*! Really, this beer was basically nothing, but BBC has turned things around and many of their beers are on the right track. This is crisp, dry and bitter, with all the great hop flavor one could want. A nice round maltiness complements the hops.

Draft sample at IBGF SUMMER. Poured clear amber color with medium white fizzy head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate citrus hop aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium bitter flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable brew.

Draught at brewpub. Run of the mill pale. Malty with some citrus notes. More English than American. Fare.

Growler brought back by a friend. Clear amber pour with a medium off-white head. English malt and earthy hops in the nose. English malt flavor with some caramel and a bitter finish.

I had the pleasure of sampling Bloomington Pale ale at BBC in Bloomington. I sampled it from a hand pump in two different variations. One was made with cascade hops, the other with nugget hops. This rating is for the traditional brew with cascade hops. Murky yellow in color with a very pronounced head. The cascade version was very smooth and citrusy in taste and a bit more mild than I was expecting. The taste was very smooth and drinkable without a lot of flavor.

Clear amber body with off-white head. Aroma is mild, medium sweet, grapefruit. Taste is medium sweet, some grapefruit, light biscuit. Fairly mild, but definitely some bitterness. Watery light-medium body.

Sampled at the Indiana Brewers Guild Brew Fest, 7/31/2004. It was tagged as their Quarrymen Pale. The color was a dark gold, leaning into the brownish range. Aroma was hoppy but not overpowering. Floral hops and a bit of a ballancing sweet malt. Finished medium.

On tap at Nicks. Nice dark brown color with a gorgeous white frothy head. Lightly sweet, moderatly hoppy/floral aroma. Falovor is a decent hoppieness balanced by a nice mild sweet malt character. Lightly floral and a little carmel chewieness.

This was called Quarryman’s Pale Ale by the brewer that served it to me. My glass had the typical pale look to it. The carbonation was tiny and the flavor not too exciting. But for a pale ale, it wasn’t too bad.

Had this as "Quarryman's Pale". Dark amber, with nice citrus hop aroma. Nice hop presence, but not much to back it up. Thin bodied. watery, hoppy finish. Needs some balance.

Poured a large head with small-medium bubbles. The body was semi cloudy. It had a fruity, citrusy aroma in my opinion with a lingering bitter taste. The lacing was very sparse on the sides of my glass.
