Had this one on draught at Scotty’s Brewhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. Clear, bubbly dark reddish-brough pour, nice grapefruity citrusy nose, cloying, a bit resiny, but ultimately a nice, standard easy drinking pale.

Tap. Orange malt and orange peel aroma. Golden yellow color with small head. Sweet orange and light citrus peel hops flavor. Light but nice.

Moving on again this time I shifted my focus towards the hoppier end of the spectrum. This transitional pale ale was soothing and a good move towards the more aggressive beers. Despite the ABV it is worth sampling if you are in the area.
Aroma / Appearance - A coppery semi-transparent body shimmers with life like a rich red sunset. Pine resin, lemons, and orange floor polish nip at the senses with a floral touch.
Flavor / Palate - Honey, caramel, and bitter Twix chew at the back of the throat. A trace dryness follows after the initial warmth. Easy drinking and gentle this is the sort of beer you could drink all afternoon while watching sports. Bloomington’s reputation seems to be growing with every beer I try.

On tap at FARM, B’ton. Old school south central Indy micro here, likely the very first. Back in the day, this was the joint. And pre-Upland these beers were pretty great, with this one being especially enjoyable on cask. But with the benefit of many years of beerage, it’s really just a moderately hopped, decently balanced pale that is notable for its strong malt profile and pleasantly dry finish. 7%, really?

On tap at Lennies / Bloomington Brewing Co on 14 March 2010. Hazy amber. Good hop presence throughout. Quite floral and aromatic, with more citrus on the palate. Distinct bitterness. Stronger than the average pale ale but this didn’t translate into excessive booziness. Seemed more APA than EPA to me.

draft at Mad Anthony Oktobeerfest - Pours very cloudy light orange with a small off-white head. There’s a mild malt aroma with some light citrus hops. The flavor includes a decent hops bite with citrus and earthy tones and a lingering bitterness in the finish. Okay pale.

Clear gold with a white head, nice lacing. Mild floral hop and pale malty aromas. Medium body. Decent flavors of pale bready malts with a nice floral hop twang to finish. Not too bad.

UPDATED: MAR 29, 2008 I sampled BBC Quarrymen Pale Ale on draft at Yogi’s in Bloomington. I enjoyed the nice head, but was hoping for a more flavorful or creamy finish. The taste was mossy and watery and the aroma was not special.

Tap at Nicks: Coppery hue with a small but lasting head and some lacde. The aroma has notes of grain, caramel, aromatic and slight piney hops, and some dusty yeast character. The taste is balanced between the sweeter malts and a light-handed bitters. Not much depth but drinkable. Will do in a pinch.

Pours orange with a fine head. Sweet malt body with a clean hop finish. Lightly watery mouth feel, but not bad.
