Our Blowing Rock IPA pours a copper color through the incorporation of 2- Row and other specialty malts. Balanced hop additions provide evident but not overwhelming hop bitterness, while the finishing and dry hops offer an elegant hop complexity. Citrus and floral notes are balanced with a slight hint of caramel maltiness. This beer is full-bodied and flavorful, yet thoughtfully integrated.

Dark amber with an off-white head. Aroma is grapefruit and a little pine. Taste was lighter than I expected but followed through with the aroma.

Can. Pours clear copper thin off-white lacing. Floral and pine hop aroma. Light sweet taste. Light body, texture on the thin side, mouthfeel fills out with the hop burst. Decent IPA overall if not a little thin.

From can. Pours an orange color with white head. Aroma was all citrus with oranges, pineapple and pine. Taste followed. Could use a touch more malt to balance. But a good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz can The ale poured an attractive clear Amber with a large frothy head and lacing. The aroma of light grapefruit rind greets you. The taste is more citrus bitterness but balanced with the pale malts. The IPA has a medium body with above average carbonation. It could be the can but this ale was super frothy when pouring. This nice ale for Holden Beach in July.

From the brewery, this pours an orange-amber into the glass with a sudsy head that leaves spotty lacing. The nose is of light caramel, light citrus and light woody pine notes. Flavors are similar - caramel, woody notes, light muddy citrus, zest and peel notes, and finishing with a lightly peppering pine. The lingering finish is nice, but overall contributes to a medium-bodied, semi-round mouthfeel. The palate feels a bit unsubstantial for the style. Were there a bit more complexity here, it could be a very nice entry in the IPA category. As it stands, it feels more like a decent pale ale than an IPA. I still wouldn’t kick it out of my glass. It goes well here in the first days of spring.

12 oz can. (Food Lion) Boone, NC.
Clear deep amber brown colour with a tiny off-white head. Sweet dark fruity hops, caramel malt, mild alcohol and some floral notes in the aroma. The flavour is sweet with caramel malt, piney hops, woody dryness, mild bitterness and some sugary sweetness.

Can. Pours clear amber with a quickly dissipating white head. The aroma smells like cotton candy.. and sugar. The taste is very sweet, artificial, and nothing resembling an IPA.

Can, friends left in my fridge. Ok aroma, this is a mild ipa. Like ipa pre west coast ipa, gives me a honey tea scent. Clean orange color, small head that disappeared to nothing, no lace. Bitter flavor. Medium body, lite creamy mouthfeel, bitter finish. It’s ok, they might as well shift this to a pale ale IMO, nothing exciting, fairly lack luster.

Blowing Rock IPA is an almost clear beer with a very small head of tiny bubbles. The beer itself is a rich amber hue. nose is sweet malt a mild hint of mown hay and honey. Taste is dry with a moderate amount of hops that broaden a bit on the back end. A decent IPA.

Nice initial taste. Good color. Ok finish. Not big west coast style, nice alternative.
