3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Onenote81 (900) - Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA - APR 23, 2012
Originally reviewed: 5/6/10. A new offering from Boone Brewing Co. 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a very thick cloudy gold with a small white head capping it off. Left no lace or webbing. Scents of pineapple, hay, spices, and a little yeast.
The body is crisp at the onset but creamy smooth on the finish. Carbonation level is moderate. This is a bready, doughy beer for sure. Rather than a tart spicy fruitiness as the main player, the wheat really mellows this out and is king. Finish is mild. Bitterness is low. There’s a bit of an acidic orange juice-like flavor noted, but it is fleeting.
This is a good beer. Might not be the best representation of the style, but it was refreshing as all get out. I could down several of these on a hot summer afternoon if I had to. Recommend.

Bottle from Paula. Pours hazy orange tinged gold with a transient white head. It smells rather orange. With something like a musty spice character. Flavor is rather orange - but coriander seems there. It’s rather soft and pleasant in the mouth. Finishes rather bland. Still, it seems more drinkable in quantity than many a wit. Would go well at the beach.

Golden orange pour with a very rapidly fading white head. Faint metallic aroma. Hint of orange and other fruity esters. No hop aroma detected. Distracting metallic flavor detracts from nice fruity esters and lots of other malty flavors. Medium bodied mouthfeel with medium carbonation (I’d prefer a bit more). Interesting beer. Might be great if slight metallic flavors/aromas were eliminated.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 ROGUE (1360) - Newark, Delaware, USA - SEP 6, 2011
12oz bottle. Pours a cloudy golden color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades. Aroma was weak with hints of wheaty malt and citrus.
Taste of bready yeast and a slight citrusy flavor up front, and finishes off with a creamy taste from the pale malts. Well balanced but lacks anthing that stands out.

Bottle pours a cloudy yellow/gold with a thin white head. Scent is sweet malts and yeast. Taste is sweet malts and some spice. Not much carbonation which does not bother me. Feel is creamy.

Pours a hazy yellow with a thin but foamy head. The aroma is a bit stale and dank. Not appealing. Taste is entirely different. Pale sweet with a bit of vanilla and honey. Still the nose comes through during the taste making it not so pleasant.

12 oz. Hazy golden-orange with a lasting quarter inch of meringue. Nose is lager like: sweet corn and dry grass. Just a hint of orange and cracked wheat finally show up. Flavor is more upfront with the orange bittersweet and then some honey, rough grain, and dry grass flavors. Finish becomes progressively more tropical fruit bubblegum, but the astringency and acidity keep the sweetness well in check. Light-medium body is soft, slightly watery, and astringent.

Smells and looks damn good, taste is a bit tinny and watery. Doesn’t give you what a Belgian should.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 skoll (348) - Traverse City, Michigan, USA - JUN 9, 2010
Pours Orangeish lemonade yellow with a tall, frothy white head that has great retention. Aroma is lemon, wheat, coriander, orange peel, a hint of cereal and faint hints of tart tropical fruit. Flavor is bright lemon and orange up front, hints of coriander and spice, floral hops, light doughy yeast, hints of bubblegum and banana. Palate is light bodied, neutral on entry and slightly chalky finishing.
