CaptainCougar (4663), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jul 15, 2007 Pours a murky orange bronze with a small, thin-lacing white head. Aroma of earthy piny hops and some pale grainy malt. Body starts slightly sweet with a lot of drier earthy bitterness and a touch of soapy lemon citrus. Needs more crisp, refreshing flavor and balance. Seems too muddled and bitter. This might’ve been an old bottle, but I can’t find a date on it anywhere. hopdog (4645), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 25, 2007 12oz bottle acquired in trade with ughsmash (thanks!). Hmmm, I love IPAs and I love Green Tea, lets see how they play together. Poured a medium and murky / muddy orange color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of citrus, herbal, floral, and light pine. Tastes of green tea (yes, its definitely there), citrus, and just all around herbal. Not bitter at all. Light lacing left on the glass. The tea dominates the flavors. I found it interesting and drinkable, but would not have pegged this as an IPA. If I were to rate it as an IPA, the #s would be a little lower (since I love green tea, I’ll rate this for what it is). Cornfield (4329), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Feb 4, 2007 An interesting experiment, but it didn’t come across too well. It poured a milky light orange with a modest off white head. Atop a pale malt are scents of garden flowers and zest of lemon. The malt is there in the flavor, but not very interesting. Any promised hop bitterness is reduced to a squirt of lemon. The green tea really doesn’t arrive until the finish, leaving a dry, herbal feeling on the tongue. Friar Tuck Wines, Sprirts, & Beverages, Peoria, IL
JPDIPSO (4267), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Sep 14, 2006 Cloudy dark straw color with a minimal covering of canvas colored bubbles. Perhaps not so much tea next time as the green tea dominates the aroma and has a real raw vegetable quality. Hint of caraway and rye also come in to add a bready component. Very little sweetness even in the initial sip. Dry herbal tea, with again a mild caraway kick. Dry, somewhat watery, and in a way rather flavorless. I feel like adding sugar and lemon, but not sure if that will help. Green tea drinks might be able to rally around this one, but I have my doubts. badgerben (3160), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Jun 26, 2007 Very cloudy gold color with a medium head. Fairly herbal aroma, mainly tea. The taste is rather bland and watery. Barely any hops at all. The tea adds a little bit of bitterness, but it does not stand out in any way. Blech.
