Commercial Description:
All German Malt - Noble German Hops
Our von Steuben Oktoberfest lager is available in 750ml gift bottles and by the glass at the Oktoberfest on Saturday, September 30. We brewed this for you in February and it has been lagering (cold conditioning) since then. It's exceptional.

Enjoyed this one from 7.5 gallon keg purchased at the brewery in Fredericksburg, VA. Pours to a beautiful, bright, deep chestnut color, with a thick, and creamy off white head, and a soft to moderate amount of carbonation. The nose on this beer is very inviting ,with lots of good toasty and nutty malt aromas paired with good herbal/grassy hop aroma. The palate is very polished and clean with excellent, deep malty flavors of toast, nuts, light hints of caramel. This beer finishes with more great malty, toasty/nutty flavors, then ends with a nice grassy hop bite that balances the malt sweetness of this beer. So fresh and flavorful from the draught, we drained a keg of this beer in record time. So flavorful yet, so, so drinkiable. This beer is an excellent local example of Oktoberfestbier/marzen that was the perfect match for bratwurst hot of the grill.

Nice deep amber coloured body with ruby highlights and tints of orange. Aroma of malt, a bit of hops and a good amount of mild spices. Medium-bodied; Large malt backbone with a good yeastie and fresh hop flavour going strong. Aftertaste shows some caramel, a bit of coriander seed and a fair amount of floral hops. Overall, a good beer - not amazing, but definitely nice for the style and to try in general. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Clarendon, Virginia on 18-September-2008, sampled on 26-November-2008.

22 oz. bottle from Whole Foods in Richmond, VA. Pours a reddish brown with a thin white head. Grainy taste with caramel and corn notes. Very big taste of butterscotch, breadiness and caramel. Medium bodied.

Clear dark amber body with a small off-white head. Sweet malty aroma. Slight hints of fruit punch. Sweet malty flavor with light breadiness and some toastiness.

Courtesy of maniac who dropped by with this and a couple of other "beers" for an impromptu tasting. Darmk amber, reddish highlights, slight head. Aroma faintly malty with a slight odd twang of cheddar. Sort of full, slightly burnt malt, but thin at the same time. Better than I’m making it sound, this wasn’t bad. But not great.

From a 25 oz bottle ... poured with a big poofy head over an amber brew. Light malty aroma. The beer drinks with the smoothness of milk, with a big bready maltiness with a sharp cheesy bitter twist at the end. Quite good.
