Cask (gravity dispense) at Pigs Ear Beer Festival, day 2 (beer #18) on 1 December 2010. Quite dark - almost opaque. Toasty malt aroma - not particularly roasty or burnt. Some berry fruit. Also in the flavour. There’s a pronounced hoppy tang on the palate. Dry and light on the palate, with moderate bitterness. Rather tasty - made a pleasant change from a run of decent nut unremarkable bitters.

Cask Handpump from the Outside Marquee at the Star Inn, Huddersfield 04/12/2010 Fruity hop aroma. Beige head. Dark coloured fruity and a little rich on the palate with a slightly medicinal flavour. A hint of dryness in a fruity roast finish.

Gravity cask at the Pig’s Ear BF 2010. Pours thick brown with a mild beige head. Holds a nice aroma of rich mocha and other dark malts. Flavor is a bit lackluster, though, with lightly sour, hard and dark malts, just hints of chocolate, and faint bitterness. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Light sugar in the finish with further hard maltiness. Average at best.
