Draught at the brewpub. Pours very dark mahogany with beige head. The aroma is pitted fruits, a little bit of oak, a little bit of caramel, and little hints of artificial banana. The flavor is peanut shells, a little bit of caramel, and earthy bitterness. The peanut shell taste lingers into the aftertaste.

Taster at the brewpub. Nut brown malt smell, with not much hop in the nose. A thin, brown head. Taste has a dollop of chocolate up front. I’m noticing the whole establishment has a sort of estery smell, like they just pitched yeast in the brewhouse, and that may permeate to the beer I’m drinking. A backing of toffee in the malt after a few sips. Quite warm and filling. Just a note of light alcohol in the finish.

On tap. Clear, very dark brown pour, lasting carbonation and a sweet aroma of a little dark fruit. Flavor was nice rich dark caramel and a little nutty with a pleasant warming aftertaste. Solid beer, I would buy this all the time during the fall & winter if I lived nearby.

Pours ruddy dark brown with a thin beige head that has decent retention. Aroma is dark caramel, a touch of roast, sweet, white bread crust and a touch of spice. Flavor is caramel, burnt sugar, light wood notes, a touch of toffee, grain and planty hops. Medium bodied a little thin and dry feeling and lightly carbonated. O.k. brew, nothing special though.

Tap at the pub. Pours a dark maroon color with rouge tinted highlights. Off-white head covers the surface. Malty aroma with caramel and brown sugar. Taste is slightly soapy with toasted malts and a bit of earth. Finishes easy enough with enough to remember.

Tap at old chicago. Pours a dark brown with a small head. Heavy malts with spice in the nose. Flavor is sweet but spiced enough to not have it be overpowering. Some smoke in here too, and dark fruits. Mostly raisins. Hops are more present that I thought they would be. Medium carbonation. Nice.
