COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As complex as a fine wine (and with about the same kick!), this type of ale has been brewed by Trappist monks for centuries. Special Belgian yeast makes it cloudy with a fruity finish.

Yellow apperance with a white head that stuck around. Taste was sweet at the beginning and then finished sour. There was something not quite right about this beer.

Draft at Blue Cat Brew Pub. Poured a slightly hazy, golden color with a medium sized white head, long lasting - nice pour! Aroma was Belgian notes, candi sugars, fruits, yeast and floar notes. Alcohol really hidden for being 10% ABV. Was very smooth. Enjoyed this one.

On tap. Clear light yellow pour, effervescent lasting carbonation/lacing and a good sweet trippel aroma. Flavor was very forward on the honey and had some sweet floral yeast complexity and finished warming and sweet. 9% ABV was well hiddin on this one, really enjoyed this.

Pale gold pour with a 2-3 finger creamy, white head that has decent retention. Aroma is grass, citrus, toast and super yeasty bread. Flavor is toasty grain, grass, yeasty bread and lots of banana. Palate is medium bodied, dry and chalky with a moderate carbonation.

Tap at the pub. Clear golden pour. Light ring of white head. Big aroma of Belgian fruit and yeast with floral notes again coming into play. Sweet smelling. Taste is following the lines of the nose. Fruity banana flavor with a slight tingle associated with the raised ABV. Smooth finish. Fantastic trippel.

(Draught) Pours a clear pale yellow body with a small white head. Aroma of candi sugar, banana, peach, clove, florals, and mustiness. Flavor of banana, candi sugar, florals, and apple with a dry finish.

Had on tap in a snifter. Nice and sweet with plenty of esters. Tasty but not right on style. Reminds me more of a blonde.

GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - SEP 12, 2007
Draft at the brewpub. Advertised as 10% AbV and 22 IBU’s. Poured a slightly hazy medium orange color. Head was white, one finger high, and dissipated over 1-2 minutes. There was a bit of lace on the glass at the end. Aroma was of clove with whiffs of banana, alcohol, white pepper, pear, and apple. Dry on the tongue with clove, subdued banana, and cereal grain. The alcohol flavor was tangible, but not overpowering. I thought this was pretty good.

On tap at BrewHaHa 2006. The body was medium orange with a white colored head. The aroma was lots of banana with some cinnamon and clove. The taste was banana with some cinnamon spice. The body was smooth and easy to drink. I enjoyed this one.

Had this one on draught at Brew Daze 2006. Interesting specimen for an excellent variety. Poured dark yellow with a very thick, white head, with a nose of flowers, baked bread, and lemon, with notes of apple and hoppiness. Strange.
