Draft at the brewpub. Very attractive beer. Clear orange color with a tenacious white head that left a cascade of white lace on the glass. Smelled nice too. Fruity (pear, citrusy hops, and a touch of dried cherry) with a hint of brown sugar. The comely appearance and aroma of this beer, however, lie in stark contrast to it’s flavor which was as harsh as winter itself. Served very cold, it had a prickly fruity flavor with hints of celery and husky grain. It was bone dry like a cold wind and had a hop bitterness which began humbly, but built to an oppressive finale. This bitterness lingered and was tempered by only a light sprucy hop flavor. A Midwest winter incarnate.

Apricoty sweet aroma, pine resin underneath. Moderate hop bitterness, some wheat and sweet peach & malt ball finish. Moderately carbonated. Alcohol level is well hidden if this is truly 7.6%.
