3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark but translucent reddish brown body with a light tan head. Great coffee aroma. More aromatic than a typical cup of good coffee. Notes of chocolate and raisins underneath. Flavor includes some prominent nuttiness. Mouthfeel is on the fizzy side and lacks the full body expected in an imperial stout. The qualities of top notch gourmet coffee come through very well here. I’m a sucker for coffee stouts and, in terms of aroma and flavor, this is very similar to some of the medalists in the Coffee Flavored Beer category at GABF. Very nice beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the downtown location, renamed Sleeping Dog Stout. Coffee and chocolate; chocolate and coffee. This beer looks like coffee with chocolate, smells like coffee with chocolate, and tastes like coffee with chocolate. Palate holds up well under all the flavor; hops are certainly present but hard to identify for all the coffee and chocolate. A sipping beer. One to savor.
