[GBBF 2016, Olympia] - Blue Corn Brewery New Mexico, IPA.

Sampled @ GBBF Day 2. Clear orangy color, small white head. Aroma reminds me of vanilla ice cream. Weird. Taste malts, sweet overripe -in a good way- fruits, vanilla again. Slightly alcoholic as well. Ok but a bit weird for sure.

On draft at the brewpub. Orange colored, medium head. Beautiful hoppy nose, fruity notes. One-dimensional flavor, plain hop bitterness. Thin mouthfeel. Great nose, but otherwise disappointing.

On tap at the brewery, pours a copper red tint. Again, I think this brewery uses melanoidan malt in a lot of its grain bill, resulting in a red tint. Aroma is hoppy, mostly citrus and grapefruit. The body is medium with a nice level of CO2 framing a good malt-hop balance. Finishes clean and hoppy. A solid IPA.
