UPDATED: JAN 9, 2009 9/13/08 From 22oz bottle. Aroma is light bready sweetness with a citrusy, piney hop balance. Appearance is clear gold with a well maintained white head. Flavor is less sweet and more bready, with an earthy, somewhat noble medium bittering. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, somewhat creamy, with a medium carb finish and somewhat starchy finish. Overall, I wish this stayed as sweet as it smelled, it’s not harsh by any means, but just somehow not easy drinking. 10/18/08 On draught at the brewpub, Fairfield, Ca. Aroma is very caramel sweet. Appearance is clear yellow with a well maintained white head. Flavor is citrusy, sweet, full flavored with a light earthy bittering. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, creamy, with low carb texture. Overall, very good and not thin like many Blonds.

Pours a golden straw color with a floral aroma. You can really smell the hops in this beer. Taste was a little hoppy throughout with a bitter aftertaste. Overall, a clean tasting beer with a surprising bitter aftertaste that changed this beer from enjoyable to just okay.

On tap at the brewpub. It pours golden with a white head. The aroma is mild berries with a hint of noble hop. The flavor is sweet white bread with a strong bitter noble hop finish. Mild cardboard in the background. Nice hop character, not so much with the malt.

Went to blue frog in fairfield today. pretty nice place. ordered this. My wife ordered the sampler tray. I wasn’t disappointed, but wasn’t really impressed. Beer was kinda heavy feeling. I was thirsty. Didn’t really do the trick. Nothing really great about the food at this place either, except the fries. The fries were awesome. This beer is ok, but i didn’t want to take a bottle home with me.

22 oz bottle from John’s - This offering from Blue Frog surprised me. The other beers I’ve had from them didn’t taste very good to me, and golden isn’t my favorite style. This, however, has a nice floral hop aroma and a very strong malt base with a cereal tint. Yellow and cloudy with minimal head. More bitter hops aftertaste than I expected. Surprisingly good.

Bottle:   Straw in color, slight haze, moderate frothy white head, somewhat sticky lacing.   Nose is a little raw, somewhat grainy and straw like.   Does have a wetness, or a damp straw aspect.   Mild grassy sweetness on the tongue, a little acidic, somewhat astringent.   Heavier and meatier than most Blonde Ales, but also not as clean.   Rough on the exit, a little cereal like.   Compared to most its not as bright, but heavier and flatter.   Yeah, tiz needs to be toned down and cleaned up.   Its almost as if its trying to be too meaty/heavy and while they succeeded, it also made it not so much a Blonde Ale.   Just not what I was expecting.   Not bad, just not all that great either.

Pours a nice gold color with ample head. Aroma is lightly of floral and citrus hops with a faint spicey element. Taste is on a par with the aroma, with a nice carbonated bite and a well-balanced bitterness that is followed by a sweet finish. This a nice beer.
