Oaky with a tannic nose. Mild notes reminiscent of Nilla Wafers. Mld hopping with roasted caramel and oak flavors with a dusting of cinnamon.

Tasted at the 5th Annual (2008) Triple Rock Firkin Fest. This American Strong Ale poured a medium orange gold color from the cask. Small sized head. Aroma is orange peel, caramel malts and sweet, with a touch of oak. A medium bodied American Strong Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are floral and earthy. The oak flavors are fairly pronounced and somewhat tannic. The wood sort of overpowers everything else. There is a nice beer behind all that oak, perhaps it need a little more time to fight through the oak. Nice soft carbonation. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Draft. Mahogony beer with a light tan head. Lt darker malts with vanilla and light fruity wine aroma. Fruity wine flavor with rich malt, oak, light vanilla. Medium body. Fruit, spice, malt, and a very light roast lingers. Better on draft at brewpub than my notes from the BA fest.

Drank it at the Firkin Festival on cask in Triple Rock Brewery. Pours amber, medium bodied, very spicy, cardamom, and alcohol at the end.

Poured at the Firken fest, labelled 8th anniverary peligroso on French oak 5 months, a hazy golden brown with a light off-white head. The nose is of oak barrel, vanilla, & caramel. Flavor is heavy malt with a silky oaky vanilla lots of woody sweetness which ends with some dryness. Well blended flavors from the firkin made this beer a winner. I would love to try it again.

Sampled at the second annual Bistro’s West Coast Barrel Aged Beer Fest: Pours a cloudy dark copper mahogany with a thin, off-white head. Aroma od sweet caramel malt and Belgian yeast with some fresh oaky character. Body starts with decent fullness and some sweet caramel maltiness along with a mild vanilla balance toward a drier oaky slightly vinous finish. Pretty interesting and enjoyable.

Draft at the Bistro’s West Coast BA Fest, 11/10/07; Nose of winey oak, and vanilla; Hazy dark brown with a small tan head; flavor of hop bitterness, caramel, and light chocolate.
