2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Consumed after a long night of smashing Natural Lights, so this may be a bit misleading. Mostly sweet malt aroma with some yeastiness as well. Pours orange with a large head that is probably a product of all the yeast in the bottle. Flavor is overly sweet with an ever so slight pine hop backing to the straight forward candy caramel malt. Very heavy with a lot of residual sugar - maybe due to drinking all the piss light. I did not enjoy this. I really was excited because it was a cool bottle, a new brewery for me, and basic excitement I get whenever I try new beers, but it did not live up. I agree with other raters, this is not an IIPA.Definitley disappointing.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: Cloudy orange, nice thin head and good lacing. Nose of bright clove and citrusy hops, tart yeast, light malt and moderate alcohol. The flavor is too yeasty and unbalanced, dry and bitter. Nice nose and grassy citrus. Strong alcohol and funky, earthy yeast in the tail.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sampled May 2007
Pours with a three finger thick, pale tan colored head that sits atop a hazy, light amber colored brew. The aroma is interestingly hoppy; a mix of thin orange juice and fresh pressed apple cider; this beer is very fruity and not necessarily just because of hops. The cider note is quite prominent, and certainly uncharacteristic.
The cider flavor continues in the flavor, though it mixes with some citrus notes a bit more than in the aroma. A mix of pine, menthol and a touch of astringent bitterness adds a balancing note to the sweet, weird fruitiness. What an interesting beer, certainly it has aspects of a lightly hopped IPA, but the cider flavors are quite a bit unique and I wonder where these flavors come from.
Ultimately though this beer is just a bit too divergent to be a great IPA. When you consider that this is a double IPA, well this is just a touch on the weak side. As a beer without a label, this beer is not half bad, it is just not a Double IPA. Still it is quite drinkable, and even enjoyable in its own right.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
750 ml bottle poured a clear copper with a small lasting ivory head. Aromas of carmel, cardboard and citrus. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of carmel, earthiness and sour citrus with a lingering bitter finish. This beer just ain’t right. Truly awful!

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cork conditioned 750. Deep copper color with amber hues and an ivory head. Slight hop aromas but mostly sweet malt and some vegetal notes. Musty malt flavor with a slight bitterness. Rather lively fruitiness with a slight bitterness. Really doesn’t have either the hop aroma or the bitterness to pull off IIPA. Not a bad beer at all but I’d call this more of an American Strong Ale. Finish lingers.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle poured a amber/orange color with a big off white head. Aroma was way off for an IPA with funky yeast and caramel with almost no hops. Flavor was more of an Imperial Wheat or something. Little hop bitterness or flavor with a dry finish.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
(750ml bottle)murky bronze in color with a nice white head that leaves webbing.aroma is a lot like a belgian tripel.i grab vanilla, belgian yeast, hay, and apple.flavor is much of the same.i cant really detect anything that would make this a double ipa.maybe i got a bad bottle?or maybe they accidentally put their belgian beer in this bottle????i dunno, very strange.

Bottle. Rich amber beer with an off-white head. Lighter grapfruit aroma. Caramel/grapefruit flavor with some pine backing. Good hop flavor and bitterness. LIngering hops. Nice and very drinkable, but not a great DIPA.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at The Bistros DIPA Fest; Nose of floral hops mixed with sweetness and caramel; amber with a tiny tan head; flavor is hop bitterness, mixed with caramel and some light dark fruit notes. Pretty good and well balanced.
