Sic Semper Fermenue Terribills "Death to Bad Beer Always" The Virginia Hefeweizen is made with 100% German Weinenstephan Weizen Yeast. Like the early German immigrants to central Virginia, we use American wheat to produce an authentic unfiltered Hefeweizen beer. Enjoy banana ester production, phenols and clove characteristics. This is the best Hefe you’ve ever tried.

Shockoe festival Richmond VA-Draft: Lemon cream and unroasted malt aroma. Cloudy amber color, thin yellow head. Taste is an odd blend of lime, cilantro, and clove. Bears little resemblance to European weizens.

Tap at brewery. Pours hazy and cloudy yellow with a small, fizzy white head, short retention with spotty lacing. Aroma is hay, straw, and meal malt, light citrus with banana, coriander, clove, and orange peel notes. Flavor is banana, clove, coriander, and citrus with spicy wheat malt and a dry finish. Light body, warmth, and carbonation.

Reviewed from notes. Pours a hazy moderate to dark straw color with a nice white head and a good deal of cliny lacing. Nose brings two out of the three usual suspects, as I’m getting clove and banana, but not bubblegum. Taste is clove and banana all the way, keeping a bit of wheat and mild sweetness in the background. Mouthfeel is light and refreshing with good carbonation. Drinks quite well and was nice on a hot summer day. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 10-15-2010

Bottle. Pours a cloudy dark gold color with little to no head. Wheaty aroma, with a sense of lemon zest. Easy going taste. Malty and lemony. Not bad for a hef.

Great hazy golden coloured body with a very thin white head - albeit fairly still looking. Not super hazy, but some suspension noticeable. Aroma of yeast, wheat, lemons, honey, flowers and a faint twinge of corn. Medium-bodied; Chewy yeastie and wheatie mouthful with a good potent lemony kick. Aftertaste shows a lot of wheat, some corn and a very mild sweetness. Overall, a pretty good wheat - definitely worth trying if you can find it! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased at Whole Foods in Arlington (Clarendon), Virginia on 18-August-2008, sampled on 05-September-2008.

May not be "the best Hefe I’ve ever tried" put it was good. Poured from a cool label growler and a great blend of banana with a slight bubble gum vibe of fruit. Great wheat after taste and very light in body, with the right amount of carbonation.

At Capital Ale House, Innsbrook. Apparently I got the last of what was in the tap, so I’m not sure if this accurately depicts the beverage I drank or not. Overall it was a decent American wheat beer. Clove, and lemon was mellow, and unfortunately the slice of lemon they served with it overpowered the brew itself. It was a mostly clear amber color, with just a little haziness to it. I’ll probably have to try it again when it is in better supply.
