3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 LeRose (73) - Massachusetts, USA - OCT 31, 2012Despite generally bad reviews, I rather liked this beer, but think it defies classfication a little. Lots of different flavors going on, biscuity, some hops, nice malty flavors, some fruitiness maybe floral, Good, not great, found it interesting in a weird sort of way, not unpleasant. Won’t be made again, but nice to try.

On draft after a Blue Hills sponsored road race. Pours an amber-yellow with no head. Malty aroma and and taste. Nothing else going on. Not great.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Spelt (231) - East Kingston, New Hampshire, USA - MAR 10, 2012
Would appear to be amateur brewing gone public. Got a bomber that was a gusher. Each class poured was a tall glass of foam with a half inch of beer at the bottom. Pale yellow hazy brew. Almost a noble hop aroma and actually a nice biscuit malt flavor. However this really is not ready for prime time.

22oz bottle in a shaker. Pours transparent, orangeish-golden with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of caramel and bready malts, with some weird light fruits, and floral, lightly citrusy hops. Flavor the same. Something is a little off with this beer. Average texture. Decent, but not great.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 beerbill (3044) - Laurel, New York, USA - JAN 22, 2012
22 oz. bottle. Pours a clear gold with a massive rocky white head that is continuously fed by a multitude of streaming bubbles that keep forcing foam over the sides of my glass. What a pain in the ass! The aroma is mostly crystal malt and not much else. The flavor is more like crackery Vienna malt and begins drying out almost immediately, leading to a very dry finish with moderate bitterness. No sign of the Calypso hops other than the bitterness. Medium bodied. Meh.

Not the best pale ale ive ever had, nor the most interesting, blonde color, a little cloudy, smell is of floral hops, not enough strength for me. Taste is similar, again not enough strength here, nice finish however, very easy to drink, needs a little more muscle.

An extremely cloudy medium-golden-orange brew. Big fluffy head. Good carbonation and plenty of lacing that hangs around a while. Tart bready aromas and flavors. Very yeasty-lots of particles in suspension. This adds a refreshing citrus-grapefruit skin-like tartness. Good malty backbone. Good hop balance and bittering finish. Reminds me of some Cisco products before they went contract. What a pleasant surprise!

Bottle. Pours a lightly hazed amber gold with a medium to large creamy white head. Sweet and spicy, malt, a vague hint of sweet candied fruit, touches of toast. Medium bodied, creamy and smooth. A bit sweet, toast and tropical fruit. Cool and clean on the finish with some slowly developing grapefruit bitterness. Nice.

(Rating #3689)

A golden ale with a thin white head. In aroma, a faint malt with no hops. In mouth, a sweet oily malt with faint hops, fruity esters, boring. On tap at Boston Beer Summit, April 16 2011.
