A decent offering, well worth the money and i’d possibly get it again. Just didn’t knock my socks off. hops on the nose were a little vegetal, hop flavor was underwhelming.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 phishhheads (14) - walpole, USA - JAN 26, 2012
A surprisingly amazing beer. I don’t like the hops...at all but this is delicious. Can’t taste the 9% at all. Its a very well balanced beer. The malt & hops go very well together.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Volgon (2715) - Manchester, New Hampshire, USA - JAN 4, 2012
Bomber: Pours a dark orange with a large white head, aroma has apples and oranges, medium bodied with mellow carbonation, starts and ends bitter.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 wilderthanyou (607) - Guelph, CANADA - OCT 15, 2011
Pours a hazy red colour with a short lived sticky white cap. The aroma is hoppy, grapefruit, citrus, orange candy, pineapple, and biscuit malt. The flavour is balanced, big juicey hop notes of grapefruit, balanced by some biscuity malt. The finish lingers with a sort of lush pineapple note. It’s not an uber complex beer, but it is very solid, and delicious. My first beer from blue hill and I’m impressed, good job guys.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 OldGrowth (1859) - North Carolina, USA - OCT 5, 2011
Bottle from Lukes Liquors.
Good aroma, sweet. Caramel, little apple. Little sour citrus. Clean brownish orange color, good head minor lace. Sweet bitter flavor. Thick body, oily creamy mouthfeel, bitter dry finish. It’s ok, not exciting me though. Bit malty for an ipa. Mouthfeel best part, though it poured nice too.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 otakuden (1558) - Vero Beach, USA - SEP 28, 2011
Appearance: slight haze of oranges and reds and coppers. Off white head leaves lovely lace bordering a puddle of foam in the middle. Swirls foamy and blotchy.
Nose: intriguing. Cinnamon swirls, crunchy caramelized brown sugars. Melba toast. Flower petals, tree pulp. Washington apples. Rye bread sticks.
Palate: bushels of fresh Washington apples. Lemon and white grapefruit citrus pith. Floral notes of generic white flowers and dandelions. Straw, hay, and coconut husk in the back. Dry in the middle. Apple along the sides dipped in melted caramelized brown sugar – surprisingly no sticky lips. Essence of Fall – changing of the leaves, crispness in the air, twigs, orchards.
Final Thoughts: not at all what I was expecting in lots of tastefully good ways. More of a red ale than an IPA to me but nonetheless, I’d both buy and drink again. After all, there is no crap on tap in Massachusetts.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Reynolds314 (760) - Connecticut, USA - JUL 13, 2011
Decent amber. The sweetness of the malts out does the hops again in this one. Seems a common theme with their beers. They tend to be more british styled pale ales with a malty sweet and less abrasive backbone. Nothing crazy but not bad either.

Sample at table and vine. Sweet hoppy maltness all over this beer. Nice flavors, a little boozy. I like the homemade flavors in these small breweries.

Sample. A very dark and malty double IPA. The malt flavor hits you initially, followed by some hop bitterness. This tasted a little young and might mellow with a little more aging.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Lubiere (6983) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 3, 2011
An amber ale with a thick creamy off white head. In aroma, smooth grassy hops, light floral qualities, caramel malt. In mouth, a smooth resinous c-hops with nice biscuitty malts, alcohol, smooth and lovely, medium bodied. On tap at Sunset Grill, Jan. 16 2011.
