Now called A Life Of Sundays. The first of our experimental Lobster Genome Project. This is .0 and it is our interpretation of a traditional Wee Heavy. This is the base beer for our Celtic New Year, port barrel aged wee heavy.

Pretty great scotch ale with heavy malty sweetness that still manages to finish dry and nutty. Pretty well hidden alcohol for such a high percentage. I dig it.

On tap at the brewery. This was one of many samples I had during a visit to the brewery. These guys brew great beers. Although I do not remember the specifics for each one they were all above average in all categories. You canít go wrong with any of the Blue Lobster brews.

Taster at the source. Deep amber with a thick white head that clings. This is sweet and malty and hides the 10% alcohol well. Not overly complex.

750 ml growler from BL. Mahogany wood color, head is off white. Nose is a weak version of the flavor. Sweet caramel and toffee malt flavors. A wisp of char/smoke, and some dark fruits. Finish is sweet without being cloying. ABV is completely hidden however, it has a warming sensation after the sip and the brew is warmer. I like it enough to buy a 750 ml !

4 oz sample at the source. Pours a caramel/cola brown with a 1/4" beige head. Aroma is scents of caramel, toffee, vanilla bean as well as some earthy peat. Sweet taste as is the case with any scotch ale Iíve had. Heavy on the palate with a warming finish.

Pours a deep burnt sienna color with a two finger eggshell foam. On the nose there is a touch of peat, rustic earth, crunch berry cereal, salami, toffee and vanilla... the palate comes across a bit toastier than the nose with bits of macaroon, smooth caramel, charred wood and a bitter walnut finish.

Growler filled yesterday. Pours a toaster black. Nice vibrant mouthfeel. Lightly smoked, caramel and a hint of rye. Coconut and buttery. Abv is very well hidden. Tastes great.

Draft at the source. Cloudy amber brown color, bright tan head. Aroma of toasted caramel and nutella. Taste is bittersweet and lightly spiced toasted hazelnuts. Delicious.

UPDATED: APR 17, 2013 Growler refill from the source. To snifter, it pours a ruby-tinted purplish mauve dark brown: trim sudsy, vanilla beige head half a fingernail in length. Aromas of peat malt, orange blossom honey, denim, smoked hickory, lavender flowers, pluots, catnip, mugwort, and soil. Tastes much sweeter than was anticipating. Iím getting honey, agave syrup, and toffee, met with nylon, ginger, caramelized onions, ash, and black pepper. Incredibly earthy by swallow. Good, but Iím not enamored.
