Blue Marlin has been swimming in our market since 1990. Released as a strong beer with a 6% alcohol content, Blue Marlin was rapidly caught and became a very familiar brand to Mauritians and consumers overseas.

Thanks to Janni & Rasmus for bringing this can all the way from Mauritius during their honeymoon. Odense Prestige tasting at Jens. Clear offyellow look with fast head and aroma/flavor of corn, malt, good metal, some weak hops and not bad for an international pilsner if tasted very cold close to 0 degrees Celcius.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours a clear golden colour with a medium size white head. Aroma of hay, grass and maize. Light sweetness and bitterness. Quite thin, average carbonation. Doesn’t really seem a 6% ABV beer.

Simple one with some rice and lots of water. Very thin with a bit of grains in the end. Would not take a second one.

Beer pours out of the bottle in a clear golden colour with low head and medium body. Aroma of grains and citrus. Taste of grains, mild hops, barley, mild apples and acid. Thin and watery finish and not really nice or easy to drink. Average, below average.

33cl bottle at my hotel in Mauritius. Perhaps an under-rated beer damned by its appearances far from home. A reasonably competent stronger blond lager with nothing much up front and a opening taste like corners were cut but a rich deep follow through that suggests otherwise. No sure how it would taste after three weeks in the sun on a freighter to Europe.

UPDATED: MAR 10, 2014 330ml bottle, pours clear golden with a medium sized white frothy head. Aroma of wheat bread, hay, maize and cardboard. Taste of wheat bread, maize and alcohol. Light sweetness and medium bitterness. Light body, thin texture and average carbonation. The bland flavour does not carry the relatively high ABV. Served ice cold this beer is tolerable as a thirst quencher.

33cl bottle. Antrunk würzig-herb. --> 5/10/4/5

330ml bottle from Beers of Europe - A gold coloured body with a thin white head. The aroma is quite corny with some malt notes. The taste has some harsh bitterness against a watery backdrop. A bit of a stronger version of a cheap international lager.

Ljust gyllene i färgen, vitt skum. Doftar sött fruktigt, gräs hö, papper. Smakar nästan ingenting, söta toner, vitt bröd, hö. Trist.
