Cask; Regular. Also available bottled.

An unusual combination of fruity hoppyness with a dark, malty side. This beer is distinctly difficult to categorise – is it sort of a porter or maybe a mild? You decide!

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - dark brown with some red chinks around the glass. Nose - toffee, nuts and alcohol with marzipan. Kinda battenburg cake. Taste - sweet toffee, coffee and honey. Bitter amaretto biscuit. Palate - medium to full bodied with a rich sweet yet dry texture and a balanced dry malty finish. Overall - very complex given the 4.2%. But is it good. Yes quite!

Bottle - Dark Brown in colour with Ruby tinge. Very Malty; burnt malts, coffee. Very Fruity; grapefruit citrus. Hoppy; citric hops. Initially grapefruit citrus narrowly dominates the malts, followed by a long lingering bitter burnt malt taste. Blue Monkey ask "Is it sort of a porter or maybe a mild?" I thought it was more like a Black IPA. Unusual. Drinkable.

Cask at CBC Islington, 07/02/14. Dark amber with reddish hues. Nose is biscuit malt, caramel, orange peel, candied sugars. Taste comprises biscuit crumble, earthy twang, bitter fruit strains, caramel, orange peel. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi dry closure. Not a porter - amber ale in RB parlance ... surely !?!?

Pours very dark, off white head with medium carbonation. Malt in the nose, but almost missing something to liven it up. Chocolate malt taste, almost between a mild and a bitter, an ok beer, nothing special.

Cask at CBC islington for Bruce’s birthday. I fail to see how this is a porter. Pours like an amber ale. Smells of honeycomb, treacle and flowers. Smells like an amber ale. Tastes of sultana, honey, oats, floral and citrus zest. Very porridge like as far as single components go. Far closer to an amber ale than a porter
