Cask, Longstop, Leicester. Pale gold with a white head. Aromas are biscuit with crisp lemon and grapefruit. Peanuts with bready yeast and hints of mango. Flavours are dry biscuit with zesty, bittersweet lemon marmalade. Quite peppery to finish. A very nice easy drinking blonde.

Cask, handpump at The Sportsman, Huddersfield 17.03.12 in company of dad & Barry Gold in colour with a white head. Crystal clear, in fact looks very good. Soft in the mouth with a pleasant bittersweetness and good hoppiness showing throughout, quite tropical tasting at times. Yum, nice beer. A7 A5 T7 P4 Ov15 3.8

Cask gravity, Leicester BF, 08/03/12. Pale and brilliant with a slim, loose but lasting head. Peppered jam, lychee, tangerine and urinal aroma. Firm bodied, full and ripe with flowery tangerine hop, juicy biscuit base. Mature and lip-smacking effort from The Monkey- savoured every last drop.

[10/6/13] Cask at CASK Pub & Kitchen in London. Clear golden. Aroma is a bit on the weak side but has some hops, citric and tropical, with overripe fruits and a yeasty note. Flavor has a bit of sweetish malt, light graininess, yeasty notes, fruity hops and a finish with mild bitterness. Light to medium-bodied. Decent but nothing spectacular.

500ml Bottle - Golden with a white head. Grapefruit, gooseberries, pineapple and mango all feature in the inviting aroma. Hoppy and fairly bitter taste with tangy grapefruit and tropical pineapple, mango and passion fruit all detected. Really nice.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask at the Twickenham Beer Festival 2012. Straw with white head; the aroma is full of American hops; the body is quite thin, but the hops come through rather well, providing citrus and pine resin flavours; and a drying finish. More an APA than a Golden Ale in my opinion.

Hand-pulled pint in Ye Old Fighting Cocks, Oakengates on 29 Jun 2013.
Very pale in looks, weak urine yellow in fact: good white bubbley head that tried to stay the distance, but failed.
As you’d expect from a brew using Citra hops, this leaned heavily towards a citrus based flavour and aroma.
I know this beer is very popular with a lot of Real Ale drinkers and craft beer fans alike, but I’m fed up with so may ’samey’ tasting brews using citrus flavours to refresh us Brits: I want deep amber brews with a malt and hop balance when I go into a pub, not this ’new wave’ of light lager look alikes with lemon duck toilet cleaner as a base!
I’ve tried to score objectively.
