4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: DEC 20, 2007 Re-Rate - One of my old favorites revisited. Love that coriander/orange peel flavor. A wheat beer that stands up well on it’s own. And a beautiful looking beer when poured into a glass.

As a devoted fan of IPA and Guiness, I probably should have known better than to try this - and my review should be taken in that light. The first sip screamed
’Celery!’ to me, but the orange/spicy kicked in after that. Well-made for the type I’m guessing, but not my kind of thing at all. Above all, TOO SWEET!

Interesting Spiced Tasted. The flavor is not as rich as I would have liked.

3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Had a bottle of this after work. This brew pours a murky light gold with an abundance of dusty particles. The average frothy white head doesn’t stay around long, and has no lacing. The bold nose is very complex and pleasant. Toasted cereal, caramel, perfume, herbs, citrus, soapy dough, raisin, pear, coriander, ginger, clove, and pepper round out the aroma. The yeasty pepper flavor is balanced between moderate sweetness, and acidity, with a slight bitterness. The light oily body is a little too carbonated for my liking. The finish is very dry. Belgian White is not my favorite style, but this is a pretty solid offering for the genre.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
There was something off-balanced about this beer’s flavor. I won’t say that it was a dirty, unclean beer... but there was something soapy in the mouth, and the overall flavor was a lot thinner than I expected. This beer has coriander and orange peel flavorings added. The coriander was added to give the beer its slightly spicy edge and some orange peel was added to provide the slightly citric bite. The bottle’s label only states that it is spiced ’...in the Belgian tradition ...brewed with natural flavorings.’

The citrus taste of this beer is too overpowering....It tastes like apricots!
Don’t be fooled by the label...this beer is a Coors all the way.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: JUL 9, 2005 I’m rerating this after a few years and expanded palate. The spicing is still almost too strong, but I can handle it now. It still isn’t the great witbier that some are, but still a shockingly flavorful beer from Coors.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Orange peel and some coriander dominate the nose. Light and refreshing, as a wit ought to be. This is just missing some spice and malt in the body. And the yeast; where’s the yeasty aroma and flavor I wanted? Refreshing and light, but I was left wanting.
