AGAquino (73), San Juan, Puerto Rico May 1, 2009 On tap at the Jet Rock Bar at the PHL airport. Cloudy dark yellow colour, no head or lacing. Citrusy aroma, though no yeast, Refreshing carbonated citrus flavour. jbye4334 (652), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Apr 30, 2009 (bottle). Pours a light gold color. Small white head. Orange peel aroma. Orange and wheat flavors, with light alcohol. Smooth finish. Moderate carbonation. Elwood (654), Leesburg, Virginia, USA Apr 28, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy deep gold with a small, pillowy, white head. Citrus and yeast fill the nose. Orange, apricot, honey, and a touch of mustiness are all in the aroma. Medium high carbonation with a medium yet slightly dry mouthfeel. Spice, coriander, a little biscuit, a little hay, a faint sweetness, and a bit of sourness on the palate. The finish is short and clean. A reasonable wit, but not the greatest. livelaughlovep (96), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Apr 27, 2009 Updated: May 18, 2009Smooth, easily gulpable ale. Not much to write home about: Smooth, mild spiced, and real great with a slice of orange. Went good with Pizza tonight.Maybe it tasted especially good because it was free: I’d not buy it myself. dmschefke (371), Eastpointe, Michigan, USA Apr 27, 2009 The face of white beers.... well, pours a cloudy golden white with thick white head. Aroma of wheat, orange, and a little spice. Flavor is identical. Very refreshing, maybe just not my style. Stellaaaa (57), Tennessee, USA Apr 26, 2009 This is probably the best beer I’ve ever had. It has a very heavy aroma of spices (nutmeg, oranges, coriander and the like). Its taste is just as good. It has the traditional taste of a white ale with very strong flavours of orange, coriander and other spices. The beer is also unfiltered, so it has chunks of the aforementioned spices and fruits inside of the beer itself as well. It’s neither too thick nor too thin, and it goes down very nice. It’s very bubbly and carbonated as well. cdugo (31), , Texas, USA Apr 25, 2009 Cloudy and orange when poured, thick head that reflects its color. Good aroma with light spice/orange flavors.. FlacoAlto (2473), Tucson, Arizona, USA Apr 25, 2009 Sampled February 2009
Pours into my wine glass with a frothy, quarter finger thick, large bubbled off-white colored head. The beer is a hazy, amber-gold color. The aroma smells of grassy coriander with a backdrop of citrus that becomes more prominent as I take subsequent draughts of the aroma. As the beer warms up the aroma begins to remind me of watered down orange juice.
Lightly sweet tasting with lots of coriander flavors, a touch of grassy grain and some cracker like malt notes. The citrus flavors are noticeable up front and move to a prickly, carbonic tasting, peppery carbonation that is pretty substantial. The carbonation is actually a bit too much, but some aggressive swirling brings it down to a more manageable level. Somehow the citrus character here starts to become more of a washed out orange juice like flavor than a bright citrus oil note that I would prefer. This is pretty light bodied, enough so that the initial carbonation made it seem a bit too fizzy.
Not bad, but seems fairly boring for a Wit. I was honestly expecting a bit more from this beer; more fermentation complexity would definitely be appreciated.
