45thstbrewer (94), Conowingo, Maryland, USA Apr 24, 2008 Blue Moon Belgian White Ale is decent. It is smooth and it has a wheat and orange taste, maybe some lemon JorisPPattyn (5155), Antwerpen, Belgium Apr 24, 2008 Updated: Apr 25, 2008 Draught Orangeish beer with a good, dense white head. Coriandersoup, even not citrussy, spicy. Rather sweet flavour, with nary any sourness, and just tons of coriander. Very slick MF - soupy, as said. Ouch. Even Hoegaarden is a relief, compared to this. phishpond417 (1861), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Apr 22, 2008 If new to the craft beer world within the last 5 years, its hard to deny this beer probably helped you along in the beginning. Pours a hazey, cloudy orangeish yellow colour with a fairly large head. Aroma is enticing, soft fruit, oranges, cloves and coriander. Taste is wheaty, sweet with a soft creamy texture. unclemattie (2370), Georgia, USA Apr 20, 2008 12oz twist-off bottle. Pours hazy orange, with white foamy head. Aroma of spice and orange zest. Flavor of wheat, spice, and a dirty sink finish. Vague attempt of a Belgian Wit. mountainforest (111), Edinburgh, Scotland Apr 16, 2008 Had it on tap off 128 in Boston (before the brewery/restaurant closed). Good experience. Citrus nose. Cloudy appearance. Very bubbly. Good choice on a sunny 4th of July to bring in the fireworks. vulcanmeister (102), La Grande, Oregon, USA Apr 14, 2008 Poured opaque orange with a thin head that quickly dissipated. Fragrance of fruit and wheat. Flat mouth feel, then fizzy, and definite citrus tang with very faint echo of wheat. This concluded with an orangey bitterness and then little else. Ok, its beer...orange ade beer, still not bad on a summer day, but not much to offer in the way of complexity. Narnad (681), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA Apr 14, 2008 Overall a decent beer. This one was poured from a bottle and had a decently thick white head for about thirty seconds which then diminished. Cloudy orange in appearance. Aroma was strong of citrus and flavor was light on hops with a strong orange flavor. Even though it is Americanized, I enjoy this beer in the summer months. Definitely tastes a lot better from the tap than from the bottle. FishManLA (284), Abita Springs, Louisiana, USA Apr 13, 2008 Seems like all American attempts at a "Belgian White Ale" are quite similar. Not that that’s bad, necessarily, but if it’s an "American Belgian White" it’s going to taste like oranges, have a nose of citrus fruit, have a cloudy orange color, and a soda-pop like carbonation. Yep, that describes Blue Moon! They really ought to market the stuff under the name "Mikes Hard Orangeade". Crazy thing is, I kind of like it! I like Leinenkugels Sunset Wheat too, and might have a hard time telling this stuff from Leinenkugels in a blind test. Guess I’m not enough of a beer snob.
