2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 thegreenrooster (2525) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - MAY 26, 2012
Pour is more of a dark brown with a small white head. Aroma is like the Blue Moon wit. Some orange peel, yeast and cereal. Flavor is more orange peel and spice. Some pepper shows up after the swallow. Finish is just a bit watery. Don’t know if this is a saison but I can’t really tell what category to put it in. It’s decent enough for a sample.

Bottle. Clear red-amber pour wih a minImal white head. Aroma is mild wheat and yeast, with maybe a hint of tart apple. Thinner palate. Taste is light fruit, wheat, yeast, and a touch of spice.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 seymour (782) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - MAY 25, 2012
Tasted from 12oz bottle into tulip glass. Squatty bottle and cool graphic design. Poured a beautiful, mostly clear, deep reddish brown color with short-lived beige foam and a little Belgian lace. Aromas and flavors of a muted, accessible Belgian farmhouse ale. Tart, bready, some residual cola sweetness, hints of green apple skin and overripe stone fruit. Very faint earthy, composty, cidery sourness, but more like simple aciduated malt than brett or lacto. I know this is a debatable viewpoint among beer snobs, but I like Blue Moon. It’s not the best, and of course the orange-wheel fad is stupid, but the brew is better than almost all other industrial-scale BMC beers, available EVERYWHERE and successfully introduced the masses to the Belgian Wit style. Since then, the popularity of more authentic Belgian Wits have sky-rocketed. I see this as a good example of "a rising sea lifts all ships." This "Farmhouse Red Ale" isn’t very complex, isn’t much like a true Flanders Red or Saison or any real sour/wild Belgian masterpieces, but I hope it opens more people’s minds in a similar way. Yeah, I dislike Coors too (labor, gender, and sexual-orientation issues...) but c’mon, let’s support this. I’m looking forward to the rest of this six pack, which isn’t always the case.

Pours a lighter brownish red, nice fruity nose with some malt. Drinks a tad sour, some berries, wheat, light malts, with a cherry tart at the end. Pretty impressed!

Slightly friuty on the front end with a crisp tart finish. Great new flavor added to Bluemoon family
