COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Farmhouse Ales were brewed for the diligent farmhands who drew the short straw and had to work the arduous harvest. Our brewmasterís expression blends the spiciness of a Farmhouse Ale with the tartness of a Flanders Red for a remarkably refreshing finish. Malts: Caramel Malt Pale Malt, European Abbey Malt, European Acidulated Malt, Chocolate Malt, Malted White Wheat Hops: Spalt Select, Czech Saaz Our Twist: White Pepper, Coriander, Hibiscus

Formerly know as "Farmhouse Red Ale"

The aroma is light but has brown sugar, yeast, spice, corn, and a touch of funk. The appearance is reddish. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is average. Overall itís a macro attempt at the style. Itís off the mark but not an undrinkable beer. Thank you Scott!

Aroma of spice. Taste is slightly dry and spicy with a subtle sourness in the finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: JUN 13, 2014 I tried this among several beers and I was surprised at how thin-bodied it was. It was bad enough on its own, but comparing it side-by-side with others, it was outright terrible. The flavor is also sweet, and thereís not enough complexity to the malt, which is sad given how many different malts they list in the ingredients. Perhaps this is mass-produced for people with blander/milder tastes than mine, but I thought this was a couple steps down from the regular blue moon, which isnít exactly my favorite brew. Drinkable, but Iíd probably take a number of cheap macro-brewed pale lagers over this one.

Checking out one of Coorsí, I mean, Blue Moonís "Expressionist Collection" offerings. I like the color of the body, a deep amber with a hint of reed. Itís got an ecru ring íní film in lieu of a head. The nose is caramel with some light sweet cherries. This is too carbonated for my liking. The sweet malt and lightly tart cherries blend together in the taste to create an effect much like a (light) sweet-sour sauce from an American-Chinese restaurant. Thereís a soft tartness that comes in at the finish along with a quiet peppery feeling on the tongue. Not bad, but I probably wonít be seeking it out.As I write this, I have no idea what category itís in on the site... Canít wait to see.
Interesting. A Spice/Herb/Vegetable.

Unless you happen to be trapped at a party far out in the country, miles from the nearest liquor store, and your alcohol choices are this or a bud light strawberita, there's not much reason to drink this. I was. I did. I wish I hadn't. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Thanks to Blake and Jenny for the bottle! Poured clear, lighter orange with a short, tight-bubbled beige head. The aroma picked up artificial strawberry essence along with notes of pale malt, dry honey, and caramel.. a little additional spice too.. not terribly interesting, but it was aiight. The flavor found wheat and biscuity malts at the core, with strawberry seeds, tart wheat, and a kiss of lemongrass around.. finished very dry with berry tartness and toasted wheat. Lighter-bodied with moderate carbonation.. sharper than it needed to be at times, but a decent flow overall.

BBD 8/18/14. Clear amber pour with a nice dark ruby hue. Strong head with very good lacing and retention. The nose has soft orange/lemon notes over a tart pepper-like background. Light medium bodied with a nice smooth texture. Above average carbonation that effervesces quite well on the finish. The flavor profile is laid back, but has a well balanced complexity. It begins with a citrus tartness which progresses to a light caramel sweetness. On the crisp finish, the coriander and pepper are noted along with a touch of spicy hop flavor as it effervesces. A good solid ale that leaves you with a touch of spicy heat at the back of the throat..

Thin and refreshing, it's got slight tart with a soda like quality. Not much on hops nor malt. Still it's drinkable ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

One of the more impressive Blue Moon varieties I've had. The pepper (I won't say whether it's white or black. Much like Stephen Colbert, I don't see color) really does stand out. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma: Earty yeast aromas with hints of bread and cereal malts. Appearance: Clear amber with a rich tan head that dissipates quickly. Taste: Light sourness balanced by a medium sweetness. Palate: Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, long finish. Overall: A really nice, well balanced beer. Not too yeasty, but the flavors are there to make it stand out. I really enjoyed this one.
