I have to admit I donít know what a ífarmhouseí beer is supposed to taste like. This isnít bad, though itís a bit thin. Slightly malty with some spice, caramel.

Not an overly impressive brew but not bad. Most impressed with a nice finish. This saved the beer for me!

Decent macroish beer. Clear reddish pour. Aroma of sweet malts and yeast. The taste had a little bit if citrus and tart. Still pretty grainy. Fairly watery light mouthfeel.

Aroma: Light caramel, white pepper, slight apple tartness. Appearance: Copper with a frothy white head. Flavor: Matches the nose. Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, lively carbonation, abrupt finish. Overall: Acceptable beer; not the worst take on a farmhouse ale Iíve tried.

Picked this up on a whim. 12 oz bottle into a Sam Adams pint glass.
Pours a mostly clear deep reddish gold with a smallish off white head that doesnít stick around very long. Aromas of light sugar, spicy wheat, and a hint of cherry tartness. The flavor follows the aroma, its a light tart spicy beer. Medium body with a moderate to high level of carbonation and a slick tart mouthfeel. Not too shabby, nothing earth shattering, but pleasant and flavorful enough to enjoy.

Pretty decent beer. Has a touch of tartness to its finish but goes down easy. Would enjoy more on a summer day than in late november.

Part of their "Expressionist Collection", now under the name "Short Straw - Farmhouse Red Ale". Enjoyed in Vegas. Pour a clean deep amber colour with an off-white head, good retention and thick creamy lace. Actually a nice different scent with mild wheat, bananas, lemon sourness, hoppy soap perfumes and light roasted grains. The darker malts are in the taste as well, and milder, with light caramel, sourness, berries, coffee, chocolate and the soapy hops. An interesting blend of red ale, Flemish sour and fruit ale. I have to admit that I do like this one.

Blue Moon Short Straw Farmhouse Red Ale has a thin, cream-colored head, a somewhat hazy, rust color, streaming bubbles, and little-to-no lacing. The aroma is of fairly pungent, sweet, grain, with a background of indistinguishable spices. Taste is of rather sweet malt, white bread, a touch of pepper, and spices. Mouthfeel is thin to medium, and Blue Moon Short Straw Farmhouse Red Ale finishes semi-dry, sweet, and easy going, but ultimately a bit dull. Overall, for beer in general, it is average, but for a flavored concoction, itís very good. Worth a check-see. RJT
