Farmhouse Ales were brewed for the diligent farmhands who drew the short straw and had to work the arduous harvest. Our brewmasterís expression blends the spiciness of a Farmhouse Ale with the tartness of a Flanders Red for a remarkably refreshing finish. Malts: Caramel Malt Pale Malt, European Abbey Malt, European Acidulated Malt, Chocolate Malt, Malted White Wheat Hops: Spalt Select, Czech Saaz Our Twist: White Pepper, Coriander, Hibiscus

Formerly know as "Farmhouse Red Ale"

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours clear copper with a slight beige head. Aroma is fruit, malt, chocolate, spice. All mild tho. Med body, or nearly. Somehow the mix of flavors isnít working right. Reminding me of an age old candy bar I didnít really like very much. Never stopped me then, but it might now. Thereís fruit and pepper and chocolate in the finish. Some citrus, I guess. But comparing this to a Flanders Red? Well maybe it is a bit tart. Still.

Bottle. Poured clear orange copper color with an average off-white frothy head that was mostly diminished with fair lacing. Toasted malt and spice aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet spice flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Soft sweet beer.

Bottle poured a clear reddish amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of wheat, carmel, fruittiness and light spice. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry lightly tart finish. Flavors of carmel, wheat, fruittiness and light tea with a crisp dry lightly tart finish.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a clear copper color with a large creamy off-white head. Average head retention. Aroma of really nothing at all. Faint tart berries. The taste is tart berries and a bit of spice. Thin and slightly watery. Meh.

Tap @ Black Bottle. Pours a hazy orangish red appearance with little head. Buttery, tangy red fruity, herbal aroma. Lots of green apple and butter in the flavor with some other light fruity elements to help a bit. All over the place and not very good.

Pale ruddy colour with a white head. The aroma is really fruity and and kind of tart. Has a little bit of juiciness and a vaguely wheaty spiciness. There is vaguely garbagey aroma though and itís both too sweet and oddly tart at the same time. An uninteresting yeast choice doesnít help either. Meh.

Bottle. Metallic malt aroma. Amber with moderate head. Sweet tart cherry/hibisucus malt flavor. Decent body. Okay - decent for a Blue Moon beer.

Bottle from Caponeís. Pours deep coppery brown with 1-finger tan head. Nose is earthy and brown sugary, with notes of toffee and hops. Tastes hoppy, floral, earthy, with some fruity tartness at mid-palate. Not much funk, but this one is not bad.
