Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Nov 8, 2009 Picked up a single 12-oz bottle from Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours a semi-hazy dark golden pale copper colored brew with an average sized off-white head that slowly dissipates. Aroma of caramel malt, some citrus and a touch of nutmeg and spice. Taste is medium bodied, with flavors of caramel malt, citrus, a hint of maple and some light spice. Finish is semi-sweet with a caramel and citrus aftertaste that quickly disappears. halfonit (423), Fall River, Massachusetts, USA Oct 31, 2009 Has a semi coudy dark golden color. Aroma is full of malts with some citrus in the undertone. Taste is of roasted malts, caramel, some citrus, and a little brown sugar. Has a little bit of a bitter aftertaste. Another swing and miss by Blue Moon. michael-pollack (2603), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 30, 2009 12oz. Bottle: Aroma of grains. Poured orange/slight copper in color with a medium-sized, dense, tan head that diminished but lasted throughout. Clear. Slightly sparkling. Flavor is slightly sweet. Tastes of grains and slight caramel. Medium body. Lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Grain and slight caramel finish. VERY little flavor, but otherwise well brewed. beercamel (83), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 18, 2009 Pours a weird copper color and the taste is horrible. This beer is too bready and fake spicy. alobar (1006), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 3, 2009 Pours a dark caramel color with a mocha head. Aroma of spice and citrus. Flavor of spice, dark fruit, and bread. It is what it is. Drinkable, but not a true dubbel. Fratto (670), Arlington, Texas, USA Sep 14, 2009 I was surprised by this one as I don’t like Blue Moon. Nice bready, spicyflavors that were a welcomed surprise. iabeerguy (158), Iowa, USA Aug 27, 2009 Not my favorite among winter beers, but ok. Pours a copper color with a nice white head. Roasted smell of malts and spices, maybe a little citrus. Spice flavor with some mild citrus. Not bad williamherbert (461), Syracuse, New York, USA Aug 27, 2009 Rich and glassy appearance; ruby cherry red. Nice pillowy head. Dark in the thick spots. A very nice appearance.
Not much aroma, but a hint of sour cherry. Some dark, sweet grape. Some dry wheat and bready yeast. Smells fine, but a tad weak.
Some wheaty malt flavors; interesting. Heavy, bready yeast ... ringwoodish. Acts as a balance to the sweet cherry, sour grape. Almost a cherry wheat. Pleasant. Gets sour (lambic style) with warmth.
A little dry and a little chewy. Decent and bready. A decent, sour girl beer. Not cloyingly sweet, not wimpy. A dry, sour winter ale.
