Same with the aroma the roasted malt does not pop out at me. I can best describe this is cold watered down coffee BUT NOT REALLY. For a winter I would like it to be at least 6% alcohol. Not bad. gary07734 (412), Tyne & Wear, England
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Oct 26, 2008 Darkish brown pour, no real head. Taste is malty and sweet, some fruitiness with a strong but not cloying sweet finish. This isn’t too bad. mcjay (304), Neenah, Wisconsin, USA

| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | Oct 25, 2008 2008 Bottle - Pours amber with a medium tan head that dissipates quickly...aroma is stale hay, spice and ascorbic acid, flavour is not good, certainly not a winter ale, watered down malt and bitterness from something that I can put my finger on but it certainly isn’t hops, if you can manage to swallow it, the aftertaste isn’t too bad...i’ll ask the drain what its opinion is... brianprentiss (475), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 11, 2008 Smells like a cheap beer, and certainly not a double, but if it were classified some other way maybe people wouldn’t be so hard on it...Expectations! But, not a bad beer; I enjoyed it. jcdsmack (88), Henderson, Nevada, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 25, 2008 Not a bad beer, I wouldn’t classify it as a belgian abbey. More like a special amber ale I guess you could compare it to Fat Tire. Let’s face it it’s 5 1/2 % ABV that’s not a dubbel. For a mass produced ale it’s drinkable. nqualls (1435), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 19, 2008 Bottle. Poured a cloudy amber with a small tan head. Aroma of nutmeg and cinnamon. Flavor reflects the aroma. Decent but not great. donrajin (233), Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 19, 2008 Not a bad beer, but a far cry from a dubbel. Need’s a lot more depth and complexity to be called a dubbel. Again, not bad, but a little thin.
