2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 MacDouglass (72) - Illinois, USA - JUN 17, 2011
Aroma: mandarin orange or tangelo, some clove, yeast; Appearance: light, lemony, yellow, very hazy with heavy sedimentation throughout that doesn’t sink to the bottom, thick head on pour, very little head or lace afterwards, Taste: natural sweetness, not sugary sweetness, more spicy than citrus, kind of like orange pekot tea, malts in the background; Palate: medium thick, a little heavy on the gut, malt and a mediciny sweetness linger; Overall: definately a beer for a special occasion and not one to down just for the heck of it (which is what I’m doing right now), enjoyable overall, but I don’t know enough about Belgian strong ales to know whether or not its anything better than just ’enjoyable’

Big fan of this. Would go well with some seafood. Or any new beer drinkers. Lots of sediment forms at bottom of bottle.

A great beer-- be careful as this one will sneak up on you. An step up tastewise as well as ABV from the Belgian White.
2.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 geofbaum (21) - Delaware, USA - MAR 1, 2010
The initial color and aroma is very much like what you’d expect from a Blue Moon only more in your face. Though the sediment in the beer is a lot more defined then in the non-Grand Cru version everything else is there initially that you’d expect. The taste isn’t on par of the normal version though and the palate leaves you wanting more with a more lively carbonation but more of an oily/sticky feel to the beer in total. Overall, you have initially what makes a Blue Moon very popular except that instead of excelling with those points you start detracting from them with the rest of the beer which makes it less enjoyable in the long run. Yes it has more alcohol then a normal Blue Moon, and yes you’ll get drunk quicker if that’s what you’re looking for. But I’d rather drink the equivalent of a normal Blue Moon to get this then what this beer brings.

Aroma smells of light banana. Light white head that does not last. Pale golden color. Alot more clowdy than the "traditional blue moon". Very smooth taste with an abrupt finish. Light sweetness with the perfect complement of bitterness that enhances both flavors. Light to medium body. A very well balanced beer that I would recomend to anyone. A definate must try

No head, too sweet, aftertaste is pure alcohol.

i was a sucker and paid 8.99 for this only because i used to be a fan of blue moon till my palate became more complex. aroma is simple spice and alchohol. taste is bland a little spice and orange peel and a lingering alchohol aftertaste. It just seems they put more alchohol and thickened thier regular version of blue moon which dosent make for a good beer, especially at 8.99

This beer is a stronger version of regular Blue Moon with the same great general flavor. You can definitely taste the higher alcohol content yet it is not overpowering.

It took an entire Clementine orange worth of juice to make this drinkable. Taste is regular Blue Moon with alcohol.....alcohol.......alcohol.
