COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Belgium, a Grand Cru is traditionally brewed for special celebrations. This holiday season, there’s definitely something to celebrate: a blue moon on New Year’s Eve. To honor this rare event, we’ve brewed a limited-edition Blue Moon Grand Cru in the US. This small-batch, Artfully Crafted brew incorporates subtle hints of orange peel and coriander and delivers a warm, spicy finish. Garnish with an orange slice and celebrate.

I paid way too much for this bottle. Got it for my wife, since Blue Moon is her favorite beer. I figured they might be able to do this right, but I was wrong. The first problem with this beer is that it seems that they use the same yeast as Blue Moon, which, from what I gather and what I perceive, is basically the most popular American Ale yeast (same one as Sierra Nevada). It would appear this way because the aroma is that of orange peel and coriander. No yeasty esters or phenolics whatsoever, which would be appropriate for this style, since it is a BELGIAN-style ale. Other than that, it pretty much tastes like a watered-down Blue Moon. I think the original is better than this. It’s thin, tastes like spritzy-citrus. It’s everything you’d fear in a Macro making a Grand Cru. Afterwards, I took a sip of my own ESB and it was like getting slapped in the face with flavor. I’ll never complain about my own beers again.

Good to start but the finish is like vinegar. Overall just a slightly more potent version of the original.

Pours a hazy gold with thin white head. Aroma is sweet and fruity, flavor is too but with a surprising lack of complexity. Like a cheap champagne.

Has a cloudy golden color. Smell is alive with citrus and spice. Taste is a bit boozy, citrus, a touch of spice and a tad tart. Overall a good quality beer.

Big fan of this. Would go well with some seafood. Or any new beer drinkers. Lots of sediment forms at bottom of bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2010 bottle pours hazy yellow with tall white head. Smell is musty wheat and rotten orange rind. Taste is decent, a solid Belgian wit but not too impressive. Similar to hoegaarden or other cheap Belgian wit beers.

Pours a honey-gold color with whit head; lots of floating sediment. Yeasty-fruity aroma. Taste - Wheat malt, orange marmalade, yeast and some vanilla and clove. Has that belgian malt flavor. Has quite an alcohol kick to it. Tastes a lot like regular Blue Moon on steroids. This is good.

Not much of a difference from a normal blue moon other than the alcohol content. I didnt have high expectations but this was pretty disappointing.

Pours a hazy orange with a pillowy white head. The nose is slightly acidic, orange peel, some clove. The taste is moderately sweet, a bit yeasty. Unstructured finish. The body’s medium, somewhat acidic. Overall, nothing particularly special, not bad either.
